Wow.

Now that was a finale. I think I may have even cried at one point. Spoilers, I guess. )

I was never as deeply into Angel as I was into Buffy. I watched, and loved, the first season, but somewhere in the next few I stopped watching (mostly because of circumstances, not disinterest). I started watching again last season when Faith showed up again, and I got totally hooked in. I think the show has had some problems finding (or choosing) the right tone, but sometimes it was brilliant, and I'll miss it.

And I can't believe there'll be no Jossverse on the small screen next year! Thank pete for DVDs.

ETA: I think I know what I'll be doing on Victoria Day.

TV talk

We played a little bit of TV catch-up tonight, watching things that we taped earlier in the week. Most excitingly, we finally found time to watch The O.C. - there is nothing on that show as brilliant as the scenes with Ryan, Seth and Sandy. The three of them together are so very funny. Sadly, we got all excited at the thought of getting a new episode of Gilmore Girls and it was a repeat! Tricksy Global TV. Was it a new episode in the States and are we now just a week behind?

We also saw the first episode of Rick Mercer's new show, Monday Report. I do really love Rick Mercer. He's my snarky pretend comedian boyfriend (with a lovely accent, which is always a bonus). And I love that since it's Canadian, I actually get the political references. I'm definitely going to check it out again. Plus I think we'll try to catch a taping -- they've been promoting them all over the elevators at work.

Oh, and I watched Angel, which was fun. The show's not grabbing me like I had hoped it would this season, but I can't quite give it up. And when they don't try to give every single character a plotline in every episode it works.

Oh, Doyle

I was watching the commentary that Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt did for the series premiere of Angel, and there was some very obvious not talking about anything to do with Glenn Quinn. They didn't give his name, they didn't say wonderful things about him like they did with everyone else (even the guest star for the ep, for pete's sake), they barely even mentioned the character at all.

I didn't really pay much attention at the time (other than being very sad that they killed off Doyle, because I loved him and his accent), but it strikes me that there was probably something going on here beyond just wanting to make a change/wanting to shock the audience. Some sort of bad blood between Quinn and the show that would make them practically pretend he wasn't even there. Hmm.
