listersgirl: (be like that)
Earlier this week I discovered that Bring It On is one of those movies that I will stay up WAY TOO LATE to watch when I randomly discover that it's on TV, even though the DVD is sitting just inches away from me and could be watched any time I want. Oh yeah.

That's just one of the reasons why I slept right through my alarm this morning. I didn't get to work until 11:30, people. That's...kind of embarrassing. Although I think every other person in that library has been off sick (or "sick") at some point this week.

Also, I have a confession to make: I have listened to Kate Bush's new album many, many times now, and I just can't get into it. I KNOW I'M SORRY. I don't dislike it, but it really doesn't do anything for me.

I've been re-watching Buffy season 7. A lot of the stuff that annoyed me when it originally aired doesn't bug me as much anymore, but the one thing that really drives me crazy is all the time they spend on recapping for new viewers. That whole episode with Andrew making the movie? Entirely there for new viewers, so they could figure out who everyone was. And then they did it again when Faith came back! I wanted to throw something at the TV.

Okay, that's it, I'm going to bed. Right now. No, really. I just have to figure out how much money I can put in my RRSP this year. Wow, the life of a grown-up is so boring.

I'm pretty much madly in love with Amazon.ca right now, because even though they said my package with Buffy Season 4 (among other things) probably wouldn't be here until later this week (since the DVD set was only released yesterday), it was waiting for me when I got home last night!

At least, the piece of paper from the post office was, but it's almost the same thing.

*happy*

Goodbye.

So that's it. It's all over, after seven years. And while it was definitely time for the show to end, I will miss the anticipation of where we'll be taken next.

Cut for those slackers who haven't watched the season finale yet. )

Finally, in the spirit of, well, everyone, I present a qualified** 10 Favourite Buffy Episodes:

10. "Welcome to the Hellmouth/The Harvest" -- not many series openers actually manage to give all the exposition, capture the feel of the series, *and* be entertaining in their own right. Although I really wish that they could have afforded to keep Xander on that skateboard.
9. "School Hard" -- once upon I time, I loved Spike.
8. "Band Candy" -- because who can resist Ripper?
7. "Graduation Day Pt. 2" -- Buffy saves the day with a little help from the entire school. Like Oz says, "...we survived...not the battle, high school".
6. "Doppelgangland" -- like half the fans, I totally identify with early Willow (the other half are Xander), and her big speech at the beginning basically is me. And sexy Evil Willow!
5. "The Zeppo" -- I love Xander, and this episode was his big moment.
4. "Restless" -- every time some new plot point happened, I had to run back and see if it had been hinted at here. And Willow's dream is priceless.
3. "The Wish" -- more Evil Willow!
2. "Hush" -- utterly brilliant, creepy and funny, it contained all the elements that made the show original and wonderful. Plus it's probably the episode that I've seen the most, other than...
1. "Once More, With Feeling" -- I'm a huge fan of musicals, so I was excited and scared when I first heard this was happening. What a payoff. Joss obviously loves the genre himself, and managed to create a stand-alone episode that actually moved the plot along in very important ways. Plus the songs kind of pretty much rock.

*I realize my happiness is short-lived, what with Spike somehow joining Angel next season, but let me enjoy it while I can.

**Qualified because a) I might change my mind tomorrow, b) I just finished watching my season 3 DVDs, so they're the most stuck in my head, and c) these are not necessarily the best episodes (for instance, I thought "The Body" was brilliant), but the ones that I watch whenever they show up on Space, the ones that I make everyone watch, the ones that make me happy.

I watched the entire Buffy viewer's choice marathon on Space yesterday. In my defense, I also vacuumed, cleaned the kitchen, did laundry and painted my toenails during the commercial breaks, but still. And all I really have to say is...

"Family"?

How on earth is that the third favorite Buffy episode ever? There is quite obviously a thriving Tara fanbase out there who did the electronic equivalent of stuffing the ballot box. Other than that, we saw mostly the usual suspects, although I was a little disappointed that we got both parts of the Season 2 & 3 finales -- I would have preferred just the exciting second part of each, which would have opened up a couple of new slots for other random episodes.

Complete list (off the top of my head, because the results were never posted):

10. "Tabula Rasa"
9. "Becoming Part 1"
8. "Becoming Part 2"
7. "The Body"
6. "Graduation Day Part 1"
5. "Graduation Day Part 2"
4. "The Gift"
3. "Family"
2. "Hush"
1. "Once More, With Feeling"

"Family"? I just don't know.

WARNING: Absolutely no Buffy spoilers ahead. Unless you have never watched the show before, in which case, LEAVE NOW!

This week on Buffy: Principal Wood is a hot, hot man. He is totally my pretend boyfriend.

As for anything else that happened, I have to save something so that I have scintillating comments whenever the topic comes up in conversation.
