Happy last day of November! It feels wonderfully like mid-September. Sorry, west coast people.

Tea Exchange update.

I got extremely tasty tea from [livejournal.com profile] cloud_hands -- tangerine white tea, and cinnamon cardamon tea. Yum. I hope all your tea arrived safely and tastily, too, but if it didn't, now's your chance to tell me (if you haven't already)! And I will go after the slackers.

On that note, this will be the last round of my tea exchange. There's been too much tea not sent, too many people discouraged, and I feel bad whenever someone doesn't get tea. But please, if you have any tea outstanding, send it off so we can end on a good note!

I've had a lot of fun doing this, despite worrying about everyone's happiness, and I hope you all have too. And maybe you've discovered a new favourite tea. I certainly discovered all sorts of new places to stack tea in my kitchen, since the amount of tea I have far outnumbers the shelf space. :D

All day I've been trying to remember why it's important that it's now October, and then I suddenly realized that I hadn't done a tea round-up. Oops! So here it is.

It's the end of another round of the tea exchange! I hope you've all gotten tea some time in the last two months. But if you haven't gotten tea this round, please speak up and I will make with the gentle nudging.

Also, if you want to leave, comment or email me, and if you want to join us, fill out the poll here.

(And if you haven't mailed your tea yet, now is a great time to do so. There was a lot of missing tea last round, which means I might have to start getting mean, but if you send your tea quickly, you can save yourself!)

As for me, I'm in the middle of a sweet flavoured tea with vanilla rice milk phase. Mmmm tasty.

It's August, and I think we all know what that means...all there is to do is complain non-stop about the weather. No, wait, it means it's time for a tea check-up.

So, tea exchange participants! Hopefully you were all good and braved the heatwaves to make your way to the post office, but if you have not received your tea, please tell me and I will send out nasty letters polite e-mails. You can also feel free to post if you juuuust sent your tea or are juuuuust about to, and in that way avoid my nagging. :)

Also, if you want to drop out, let me know and I will take you off the list, or if you want to join up, read the entry and fill out the poll here!

In conclusion, has anyone found anything that makes truly spectacular iced tea? After working my way through my collection I've fallen back on my old favourite of Vancouver Island blackberry (although I made a really nice one with something ginger), but I'm open to more suggestions.
listersgirl: (tea)
Today, I have become close and intimate friends with the meeting room. I'm just saying. The sad thing is that I'm actually actively excited that our meetings tomorrow are in a different room. I think it might even have a view! Shhhh don't tell.

ANYWAY.

It's the end of the month, which means it's time for a hastily scribbled TEA ROUND-UP. (Those of you in the sweltering heat, pretend I said "iced tea round-up", ok? Good.)

So, please, tell me if you haven't received your tea for April/May (meaning, tea in the last 6 weeks or so). Let me know if you want to drop out, or if you want to join us (the poll for addresses etc. is here). Address changed? Tell me that. If the guilt finally got to you and you juuuust sent your tea, feel free to tell me that too, if you like, so that I don't come tracking you down. Because I will. (Just not right this minute, because I'm running off to another quick meeting (lord save us all)). Or e-mail me with any of these things, if you prefer, at listersgirl[at]gmail[dot]com.

And tomorrow it's June! And the 1 year anniversary of the tea exchange!

*throws party*

I'll try to get new names out to you all over the weekend, ok?

Meanwhile, I am the proud owner of a list of all my teas, with room for comments. Shut up. And I've made 4 different kinds of iced tea in the past 1 1/2 weeks (last night's, which I haven't tried yet, was Japanese Sour Cherry green tea from Silk Road). Mmmm, tea.

Ok, running. Hope you all are having lovely days! Someone would tell me if we'd been invaded by aliens or it had become perpetual night, right?
listersgirl: (tea)
Sorry! Sorry, I'm a little behind this time. No computer at home + FAR TOO MUCH WORK AT WORK = me writing this while on a conference call because I don't even have time for a lunch break these days.

ANYWAY.

So, tea! I hope you all got tea at some point in February or March, and are happily enjoying it right now. If not, you know the drill: this is the place where you tell me if you didn't receive your tea, so that I can do my best impersonation of a debt collector. Or something. Don't be shy! Speak up!

Also, if you want to join us in our tea adventures, there's more information (and a poll for your contact info etc) here. Maybe just drop me a comment here, too, so that I remember new people are signing up.

And, of course, if you want out, just say so. Or if you have anything else you want to share with the group! Personally, I'm excited that it's nearly iced tea season again. Yum.

Hmm, I think that's it. I'll try to have the new exchange names sent out by the end of the week, to give people a few days to opt in or out.

Later.
listersgirl: (tea)
Tea time!

Yes, it's that time once again. Are y'all enjoying your tea?

As always:

1. If you haven't gotten tea for December/January, PLEASE tell me. I know if feels like whining, but how else can I nag people into complying? Or to put it more nicely, I wouldn't want people to be unhappy.

2. If you have more than enough tea and want out, just say so. You can always come back if you change your mind.

3. If you want to join us, welcome! Leave a comment and then go fill out the poll with all your details. It's very simple -- I give you a name every two months, and you send 1 or 2 boxes of tea that you really like -- it could be local, it could be strange, it could simply be something you love and want to share. The idea is that people get to try things they might not have picked out themselves.

4. If there's anything you want to say, have at it. Think of this post as your own Speaker's Corner. Without the possibility of being mocked on Much Music.

I'm aiming to get the February/March names out to you over the weekend. Oh, and one other thing: a couple of people have mentioned that the tea they got was stale. So, please, check the expiry date (if there is one) before you send, or at least make sure that it hasn't been sitting around for too long. Thanks!

Oh, and also (because my brain is running on slo-mo today) -- please include your username somewhere with your tea package so that people can thank you. You know, if they feel like it. :)
listersgirl: (tea)
It's the end of the month, which means...Tea Exchange Roundup!

So, please tell me:

If you haven't received your tea this month. Or, actually, months - this last batch was for October/November.

If you want out of the exchange. Even if it's just for this one time. You can always come back.

If you want in. Fill out the poll! And pretend that last text box says 'email', because I forgot to include a box for that.

(My email is listersgirl[at]gmail[dot]com, if you don't want to leave a comment.)

I will (hopefully) send emails out over the weekend with your new exchangee. And remember, everything stops for tea!

* * *

On a non-tea related note, my Nano count is 12557. Snerk. I wouldn't mind writing more - it's not that I ran out of things to say, amazingly enough, but that I just lost impetus. Also, that I am VERY SLOW, even when I was writing daily. So maybe I'll make February National Novel Continuing Month.

Helloooooo! What's going on? How were your weekends? Don't you just love life right now?

I don't, particularly. But that's neither here nor there.

I had a pretty good weekend, though. Thursday night featured spontaneous sushi with [livejournal.com profile] sarcasma, [livejournal.com profile] mystery_diva and [livejournal.com profile] sanity_clause. Tasty and fun!

Friday night featured spontaneous Mexican with [livejournal.com profile] starfishchick, [livejournal.com profile] sarcasma and [livejournal.com profile] sanity_clause. Also tasty and fun, with bonus NaNo talk. However, after careful research it would appear that all Mexican restaurants in Toronto are veeeeery slow.

Dinner was followed by a spontaneous viewing of Mirrormask, which was visually stunning. And thus I used up all my alloted spontaneity for the year.

Wait! You've made it this far, don't run away yet!

Two things:

1. We're not allowed to wear perfume or any kind of scent at work anymore. My BPAL collection is weeping.

2. If you're taking part in the tea exchange, remember to send your tea! I'm sure your recipient will be very grateful, what with fall giving way to winter here in the northern hemisphere.

Oh, wait, one more:

3. It is less than 10 hours until November, and my summer's accumulation of sunburns (the ones I received DESPITE my careful application of sunscreen every day) have not gone away. WTF?

Next up for me: NaNo! It's going to be awfulawesome.
listersgirl: (tea)
Yo, tea exchange people!

I hope everyone is enjoying his or her tea! If you aren't, and the reason is that you haven't gotten any yet, please tell me so that I can nag the people who owe tea. :) ([livejournal.com profile] sallym and [livejournal.com profile] bruiseblue, I know you hadn't gotten yours earlier this week - if it's arrived since then, let me know.)

If you have a new address, are tired of the whole thing and want out, or are suddenly intrigued and want in, now is the time to speak (my email is listersgirl at gmail for address changes and the like).

If you want to use this space to tell the world about the wonderful new tea you've discovered, be my guest.

If you are sick of me talking about tea, you can tell me that, too.

Names for the October/November exchange should hopefully be sent out early next week.

Later, taters.

(On a completely non-tea related note, if anyone has a file of the cover of "Mad World" that was used in Donnie Darko that you'd be willing to send to listersgirl[at]gmail[dot]com, in exchange I will tell you that you are wonderful and brilliant. Doesn't that seem fair?)
listersgirl: (tea)
Yay, autumn! I have chai.

Oh yeah, it's totally tea season, which is my not-so-subtle way of reminding tea exchangers to send out your August/September tea package if you haven't yet. Send it now and avoid the rush!
listersgirl: (tea)
I walked the line this morning in the heavy rain, which must have been what was left of the terrible hurricane as it made its way up here. Therefore I was especially excited to get home and find tea (tea!) from [livejournal.com profile] bureinato. Thank you!

You know what? You, too, can make someone happy with tea! Which is my attempt at not being a complete nag when I remind you to send out your August/September tea packages (if you haven't done so already, of course).

Also happy things:

--free opera at the Harbourfront
--West Wing Season 2
--only having to do 16 hours of strike duty next week because it's Labour Day

In conclusion, I have decided to steal my friend C's condo. Maybe I could just swap apartments. She wouldn't notice, would she?
listersgirl: (tea)
Hola, tea exchangers!

I hope everyone is enjoying their tea (or at least the prospect of their tea - I'm sure this is not the only place where it's too hot to boil water). It's almost August, so I'm going to send out tea exchange round 2 information late this week or early next. A few things:

1. If once was enough, just let me know, and I'll take your name off the list.

2. If you want to join in the fun, go fill out the poll (and put your email address in there somewhere if it's not on your info page, because I was an idiot and forgot to include a spot for that).

3. If you have not received your tea, please say something - I know there are a few people who are worried about whether their tea package has safely traversed the wilds of the postal system(s).

4. Does every two months work for people? It seems like it was enough time for everyone to get organized. Would you prefer more often? Less often? Or maybe you'd just like a poll.

[Poll #539873]

5. No, that's it.
listersgirl: (socks)
I have new cds. Yay! All hail the power of the insurance claim. Sadly, the power of my brain is not nearly as good, because I apparently ordered two cds that I already have. Argh.

I am a big wuss, and allowed myself to be completely cowed by the scary hot theatre, so I did not go to my planned Fringe show tonight. I know, I'm a loser, I have fallen off the Fringe wagon. Tomorrow, though, tomorrow I will jump right back on, and eventually I will psyche myself back up and enter that theatre again.

Maybe.

Decisions made tonight: I think I need a new VCR. And ice cream is not worth getting dressed for, not tonight.

Oh, and finally, if you are taking part in the tea exchange, this is just a wee poke to remind you to send your tea out if you haven't done so already. I'd like to do the next round in August, but only if most people have got their tea care package by then. (And yes, I know it's summer, and who's thinking of tea anyway, but that's too bad. You'll be happy when October comes around!)

TEA

Happy belated birthday, [livejournal.com profile] montykins! I hope it was fun.

***
My pants are falling down.

Normally this would lead to grand excitement and celebration because I would have miraculously lost hated inches from my hips, but sadly this time all it means is that they have stretched out from being worn too many times and are therefore really overdue to be washed. Aren't you glad you're on the other side of the subway station/city/country/border/continent?

Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] sarcasma's new All Tea, All The Time journal, I think we should do a tea exchange! Oh, you know you want to.

Here's the plan. Sign up, and you'll be given a name each month to send tea to. I'm thinking 2 boxes, or the equivalent in random tea bags or loose tea (preferably in a container, of course). Whatever tea you like - it doesn't have to be gourmet, or local, or hard to get, just your favourite tea that you'd like to share with others. Herbal, black, green -- whatever strikes your fancy. And then hopefully after you've received your tea package for the month you'll tell us about it!

One caveat: this is international, so you have to be willing to mail worldwide. And, you know, give up your address. But in exchange you get TEA! :D

Tea Exchange Poll )

If you know people who love tea, too, feel free to send them over here, or collect your own names for the tea exchange and pass them on to me. Tea for all!
