I was watching the commentary that Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt did for the series premiere of Angel, and there was some very obvious not talking about anything to do with Glenn Quinn. They didn't give his name, they didn't say wonderful things about him like they did with everyone else (even the guest star for the ep, for pete's sake), they barely even mentioned the character at all.
I didn't really pay much attention at the time (other than being very sad that they killed off Doyle, because I loved him and his accent), but it strikes me that there was probably something going on here beyond just wanting to make a change/wanting to shock the audience. Some sort of bad blood between Quinn and the show that would make them practically pretend he wasn't even there. Hmm.
