Two of you started new jobs yesterday, and both of you are still alive and not miserable. Hooray! This is good.

Also good:

-The weather. Anyone want to take bets on how long it'll be before I start whining about it being too hot? But for the moment it's just perfect, and I walked home last night, and it was wonderful.

-14 more days until Kitchen Confidential on DVD!

-No major disasters while I've been in charge at work.

-The Dresden Dolls album I got for my birthday.

-Heroes, which fills me with eeeeeee! spoilers )

Heroes...or at least I would be, if it would hurry and and get back on the air. *sob*

Prison Break, although I got bored and was on the verge of dropping it, except then I realized there were only three episodes left in the season, so I have them, sitting waiting to be watched. Maybe one day.

Hustle. I think we're just finishing up the third series here? Or maybe it's finished. Still, British con artists with a Robin Hood complex - how can you not love them?

America's Next Top Model. I don't have a favourite yet this season, except for maybe that guy Benny who showed up in the crossing guard uniform to teach posing. He was awesome. Still, I am fully on board with my love for this show.

Lost, except that I still haven't found a workable download from last week! Hopefully the one I got last night will work. Because I love my show, and exciting things are happening, dammit.

Ugly Betty. Because of Marc, and Amanda, and Henry (the perfect nerd potential boyfriend), and Justin, and the CAMP and the DRAMA. Frothy and bitchy and just a little sweet.

Veronica Mars. I think I finally got caught up on the season. I'm so sad it hasn't been renewed. I've been hearing that a lot of people don't like Veronica (the character), and I have to admit that when you watch 3 or 4 episodes in a row, the on-again, off-again relationships are a little crazy, but it's still fabulous.

The Riches. This is very fun! Even if Eddie Izzard's accent keeps slipping (and speaking of, why did he have to be American? He could have easily been a travelling Traveller!). Minnie Driver, though, is fabulous. And I've only had to skip through one potentially-too-embarrassing-for-people-on-screen-and-therefore-too-embarrassing-for-me scene. So entertaining.

The Tudors is so very pretty. Also, I love how they're assuming that everyone knows the history - witness the very pointed mention of Anne Boleyn's name when she first shows up, even though it's totally not important at that point.

Doctor Who. You know, I loved the Ninth Doctor so much that I never really got comfortable with the Tenth Doctor. But the first episode of the new series was excellent, and I loved it, and I'm excited. Whee!

What are you watching?

My cable disappeared for good at some point last night. I only discovered it when I went to watch Entourage at 10, and discovered that CityTV was all static, unlike Global and CBC, which I had been watching earlier. And it took me a few minutes to remember that I'd actually asked for this, since that was in July.

So, with the cable line still in, I have perfectly clear TVO, Global, OMNI, CBC, and Sun. Everything else is a whiteout. Not what I was expecting. I kind of thought it'd be fuzzy CBC, Global, CTV and City. Maybe with the cable out?

The round-up of what is still watchable from all the TV I've gotten myself sucked into:

Doctor Who, CBC, yes
Prison Break, Global, yes
Heroes, Global, yes
Entourage, City, no (but not a big loss because it's on DVD already)

Rick Mercer, CBC, yes
Intelligence, CBC, yes (and let me just take a moment to say how much I'm loving this -- I read a review that said it was for people who love The Wire and MI-5, which, HI. It's set in Vancouver, about a guy who runs an enormous drug operation and the police department who is trying to stop him. But he becomes sort of an informant for them instead, because the director is highly ambitious and is using him to get herself into a position of power in CSIS. It's all very dark and low-key and about the power of knowledge.)

America's Next Top Model, City, no (SADNESS)
Lost, CTV, no (which would be EVIL, except that I've been watching it with [livejournal.com profile] sarcasma and [livejournal.com profile] sanity_clause every week anyway, so I'm good as long as they keep letting me in the house)

Ugly Betty, City, no (it's fun, but I'll live)
CSI, CTV, no (wow - I've been watching this since the beginning. No more Warrick and Greg!)

The Hour, CBC, yes

And the most evil of all: Studio 60, CTV, NO. My Sorkin! Gone forever!

I'll definitely have to see what happens when I unplug the cable.

Other pieces of randomness from the last couple of weeks )

Those of you who live far away from your parents - do you find that you get information in an oddly out-of-proportion way? In the weekly phone calls with the parents, I get lots of detail about what plays and operas they've seen, who came into the store, who said hi, what's being made for dinner, but major things often get left out or brought up really casually. And I don't think it's deliberate - in fact, I think I do the same thing. I guess we all just forget that we haven't mentioned things before. It's odd.

Despite being occasionally susceptible (or possibly just this once) to answering Craigslist ads at 11:30 at night, I am totally NOT PREPARED to see a response from the Craigslist boy at 8 in the morning, 5 days later. You can't sneak up on me like that!

Now, teevee.

Studio 60 )

Prison Break )

Heroes )

And two public service announcements: My boyfriend Rick Mercer comes back tonight! Whee! And, you can get tickets to be in the live audience for my boyfriend George Stroumboulopoulos, who is back on the air next week -- assuming, that is, that you are free at 4:30 in the afternoon. Whose dumb idea was that?
