Help!

I have two stupid questions about IE that maybe someone can answer:

1) Is there a way to set it so that the default is that links, when clicked, open in a new window?

2) Is there a way to designate it so that any new windows automatically open up maximized?

I suppose I should be thankful that these are my most pressing problems this morning, but it's irritating me that I can't figure them out myself.

From learning about HTML coding, etc., I think the first one is dependent on how people code the links. I always right click and go to "open in new window" just in case.

If you find out about number 2, I'd sure like to know that one!

According to [livejournal.com profile] nicepersonality, who has done tech support for the past forever:

1) Not from within IE. There may be some third-party toolbar or something that offers that option, but I don't know which one (if any). The closest I can find is a setting in Tools > Internet Options > Advanced to force shortcut icons on the desktop open in their own window instead of an existing one (uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts"). I usually just right-click and choose "Open in New Window."

2) Not that I can find, in either IE or Windows Explorer. Huh.

You can Shift-click, too. I don't know if that's any easier, though.

Plus that requires using two hands in a coordinated fashion. I could never, ever be a drummer.

I usually just right-click and choose "Open in New Window". It's a reflex for me now.

Hee - glad someone appreciates them! :)

And thanks for the reminder - I have to organize the Lost fic memories before they get too overwhelming.

I am getting the book back from the TPL tonight, so go me!

There are a few reasons I should be back on track soon:

1. We set the clocks back this weekend so I should be able to get up again without it being pitch black.

2. When baseball is over, I can start going to bed earlier (like, 10 instead of 12) and therefore get up earlier.

Sigh.

At least, the clocks had better bloody go back this weekend - it'll be November on Monday!

Not that I know of in IE. But if you use Firefox -- tabbed browsing ::loves:: -- there is a way to force all links to open in a new tab :)

I second the move to Firefox! Secure browsing, tabbed browsing... what more could one ask for? :D

I also second shift-click over "right-click->open in new window" (mentioned by a few people), but that's just a matter of personal preference...
