listersgirl: (books)
I am surrounded by books. This is not a bad thing, except that I am not at my own house, but they are all my books, and therefore I'm going to have to drag them home somehow. I have library books, some of which I brought from home and some of which I picked up on the way. I have books that I bought a while ago, which I brought because I thought I didn't have enough library books to last me through the week. I have books that came in the box o' presents that finally arrived from my parents (via Amazon). And now I have books that were purchased today during the shopping trip with [livejournal.com profile] starfishchick (it was supposed to be for summer clothes, but we can't not look at secondhand books, too). Books!

I also have that belated birthday package from my parents, although it's at home, and not here where I can paw through everything delightedly. I love having the Amazon wishlist, because my parents just pick things randomly, usually things that interest them, too. So I ended up with a cookbook for greens, a book by Paul Feig, Eats, Shoots and Leaves, a CD of music by Jason Robert Brown, AbFab series 1-3, the Due South pilot, and something else that I'm forgetting. Not neccessarily the things I would have put at top priority, but I love them even so.

Plus, you know, presents. Always fun.

Last night found me past the far tip of the subway line, enjoying Cosmic Bowling and birthday cake, and successfully defending my long-standing title as Queen of the "How Low Can You Go?" Score (despite some stiff competition from [livejournal.com profile] sarcasma).

Some people, however, had obviously done this before - the Thunder Bay people knocked the West Coast people right off the map (other than the birthday boy, who held his own beautifully), which I think says more about Thunder Bay than about anything else.

Note: my boss is the best boss ever, because she *made* cheesecake and brought it in for my birthday today. White chocolate cheesecake with strawberries on top! So yummy.
