Winter is really kicking my ass this year. I cannot get warm! It's only the beginning of January, too, which means it's only going to get colder. This is not normal for me - I'm the person who wore tank tops all year round in Montreal. Now I'm such a wimp I don't even want to go outside, even with full winter gear.
Example: Today at lunch, I had to run down to Shoppers, which is, oh, maybe 3 blocks away aboveground. But instead of putting on my coat and going outside, I elected to take the convoluted underground PATH route, which involved 4 escalators, 3 sets of stairs, 3 food courts, 2 glass tunnels, 2 subway stations and one doubling back when I realized that what I thought was a Shoppers was actually an inferior drugstore. (No, I did not actually *take* the subway to go three blocks. Of course, that's only because I didn't think to take my subway pass with me.)
3 blocks = 45 minutes.
At least dodging the desk jockeys counts as exercise, right? RIGHT?

My co-worker you're meeting tonight doesn't know about LJ - not sure I want her to - so if asked we met on ChickLit, OK?

Date: 2004-01-07 02:20 pm (UTC)I'm curious as to what this new life that follows my current unemployment will be like.. Will my eyes readjust to natural light? Will I be able to navigate without colour-coded maps and elevators as landmarks? Will I travel in straight lines with fewer doors? So long as I don't have to buy a car (stay away Markham!) I think it will be an improvement.
