I am so failing at cooking for myself this week! (Starting from about...Friday? Or maybe even all last week, too, heh.) I am buying lunch and dinner left right and centre. Or some other meaningless combination of words. It's all very tasty, of course, but the longer I go without making food at home the harder it is to get back into that habit. And it's not likely to be broken tonight, since I have dance class and then I have to go to the library to pick up some books, which gets me home just in time for SYTYCD pretty late, and very hungry.

Maybe tomorrow I will remember to go to the farmer's market across the street, and will be inspired by the food? Maybe.

TOTALLY. If I go a few weeks doing a lot of eating out/convenience foods, when a time comes that I have an opportunity to cook, I look at the fridge and can't really tell if there IS food to cook, because I forget what I cook when I do cook.

That sentence broke my brain, but you know what I'm saying. Right now if there aren't obvious salad or sandwich makings I'm pretty much screwed.

Perhaps we will jointly begin to fix this on Thursday? :D

Probably not the best time to make plans for dinner, right? ;-)

you and me both! I am acutely aware of how much money I can save and calories I won't use up if I bring my lunch....and yet...

I'll go to the market with you tomorrow if you want some company! I have Bohnanza at my desk, ready for a bean showdown!

I made vegan chili dogs last night. It involved heating up the franks, and heating up the chili. That's as close as I've come to cooking lately. Heh.

I'm still shocked that I *am* taking my lunch. Don't get me wrong...I'm not bragging, because it's completely boyfriend-driven. He's adamantly against lunch-buying, and basically lunches made from home come out of our common grocery account, but buying lunch has to come out of our own accounts. So I have a financial incentive. Could you create some kind of financial incentive? Hmm. Or, quit your job and go work somewhere devoid of yummy lunch options. Like...Environment Canada! :)

Oh, it'll happen eventually. My friend Heidi is known for the way she and her family literally live on either take-out pizza or plain chicken and plain rice when they eat out (seriously, horrendous diet, but each to their own, so...) yet while I was there cooking, she was actually interested in a couple of recipes.

Okay, so that was supposed to be positive but it didn't sound all that encouraging really, did it? Maybe your get-out will be having a friend who cooks over to stay for a while. :) How was dance class?

:) When's the recital? I love the different ways students react to the eye contact thing. Problem is, it's essential in tribal because you're watching each other for cues! What's your choreography to, if you dont' mind me asking?

The farmers market never works for me because I think "What can I make with beets? Ooh, I'm sure I can find something," and then I take them home and its too overwhelming (d-u-m) so then they rot.

It works better to pour through my thousands of cookbooks and find a recipe that speaks to me and go shopping for it. THen I only get overwhelmed half the time.

It isn't that bad once I start, but sometimes I freeze at the getting started phase for no particular reason!

Could you make a dish or two on the weekends and then freeze individual portions for meals? Asks the girl who is having a smoothie for dinner because she's too lazy to cook...
