I'm quite certain that I read more books than these this week, but I guess I just haven't finished any of them yet. I've really got to time these things better.
Terry Pratchett Jingo
Terry Pratchett Pyramids
The good thing about going to a new library is that there are different books on the shelves.* After having exhausted 3 libraries' worth of Terry Pratchett, I wandered into the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section of a new library, looking to kill some time, and found these two that I hadn't read yet.
Jingo is a Guards book, which are always great. I think they're my favourites of the Discworld books. This one was a little more obviously didactic than usual, with the whole "foreigners who wear towels on their heads and live in the sand are people just like us" theme, but there were very funny Vimes bits which made it very worthwhile.
Pyramids is the Discworld version of Ancient Egypt, but with the usual alterations and over the top bits. It was very funny. I wanted more of the assassins stuff from the beginning, though.
Now I really want to go through and read the whole set again, in order. Winter project!
*In my head, that statement didn't sound quite so stupid. Still, I stand by my point.

Date: 2003-08-21 01:07 pm (UTC)I wanted to read the books in chronological order originally (as things should be read), but I was living in Montreal when I picked up my first one, and my tiny library was card catalogue/no holds/one branch only, so that really wasn't happening.
