American Splendor: I really enjoyed the way it was filmed, the stylistic touches and the use of animation, but I found the actual story kind of boring, so I have to admit I fast-forwarded through chunks of it.
Battlestar Galactica season 2.5: Such a great show. I'm totally curious to see what happens in season 3
Big Love season 1: So here's the thing: I don't like most of the characters, I think they're hypocritical and not always that nice, but it's an excellently done show, and very enjoyable.
Bon Cop, Bad Cop: This was totally entertaining - a French-English buddy cop movie, full of cliches that somehow worked. Also, Colm Feore.
Clone High: HI FUNNY. Although funnier when watching with other people.
Coupling season 2: Hee hee hee.
Crossing the Bridge: The Sound of Istanbul: I watched this doc on the music scene in Turkey because one of my co-workers was in it -- she's a Canadian who sings traditional Turkish music, and has become somewhat famous over there for bringing back the old songs. It was not a particularly well-filmed or well-made doc, but some of the music was great.
Fabulous! The Story of Queer Cinema: Interesting, but not particularly memorable.
Hairspray: Totally entertaining, despite any niggling stage-to-film pickiness I had. I could feel myself wanting to get up and dance throughout the whole thing.
Harold and Maude: I can't believe it took me this long to get around to seeing this movie. I loved it, especially Harold scaring off his potential dates.
The History Boys: So fabulous. So fabulous! I wish I could have seen the original stage production.
How I Met Your Mother season 2: I love Barney. So much. I watched 1 1/2 discs, went to bed, got up the next morning, and watched the other 1 1/2 discs. And then I wanted to start it all over again. (And, since I wrote that, I have.)
An Inconvenient Truth: Considering how much of this movie is basically someone filming a slide show, or following someone travelling, it's a surprisingly interesting documentary (separate from its subject). And maybe I got sucked into the hype, but it did fire me up to get out there and start doing something.
MI-5 season 5: It amazes me that this show continues to be so awesome, even when there has been such a cast changeover. Still, awesome!
Mysterious Skin: This was a fascinating movie. Totally worth watching.
Sherrybaby: I love Maggie Gyllenhaal, she's so fantastic. Quite a heavy movie, though.
Shortbus: I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this, and how touching I found the end. However, 1) I know someone who was in it, and it was a little odd to see her having real sex on screen, and 2) I think people need to re-learn the definition of "acting". Seriously, there's no need for the real sex in a movie that's supposedly not about the sex.
The Simpsons Movie: Entertaining, despite the fact that I don't really watch the show regularly. Although, where were Marge's sisters?
The Thin Blue Line: Sometimes, when you have fond memories of something, you should let it live in your memories and not revisit it, because maybe, on reviewing, it's kind of terrible.
This Film is Not Yet Rated: Entertaining doc on the MPAA rating system (the stupid and unbalanced rating system, in my opinion).
Who Killed the Electric Car?: Interesting doc, although not stunningly memorable.
