Holy moley, it's September! I'm a little excited; I love September. And it's an absolutely gorgeous weekend so far. I'm currently sitting around in jeans (that I'm testing to make sure they won't stretch too much and get saggy* - I got them from the Gap for those who care), and I'm not even too hot. Later I think I'll have tea!

vestra was here last week, which was fantastic. We had three games nights (three!) and went to two musicals featuring people she knew, one of which was ridiculously silly but pretty entertaining (We Will Rock You), and one of which was excellently performed but a terrible, terrible show (Nunsense -- in Mississauga no less). I'm ridiculously excited for the production of Sweeney Todd this fall; I need some really GOOD theatre to cleanse my palate. Plus, Avenue Q! and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!

(Speaking of musical theatre, I went to see Hairspray (the movie) this afternoon. It was totally fun. I love the show, so I was a little worried (plus fat suits are always bad news), but they did a great job. I totally wanted to dance the whole way through.)

And now vestra is gone, and that's sad. I need my friends to all move here.

You know, despite the fact that I'm not going back to school or anything, it totally feels like September. I guess it's because things are starting - I signed up for a bellydance class (at a different studio to avoid the guilt - that one moved anyway), and the French classes, and they both start mid-September. I never did get around to finding a choir to sing with, though. Oh well.

And now, dinner and finding recipes to use the half-can of chipotle puree I have in the fridge.

*I think the jeans will be okay - I read in a few places that the trick to buying jeans that fit properly is to buy them a little too tight, because they stretch, which is totally true -- my jean capris are very loose after wearing them for a day. So I was going to do that, but these ones seemed like they fit too well, you know? And they were a little expensive. But I think I have jeans, since they didn't stretch out of shape.

I had the exact same apprehensions re: Hairspray and fat suits, and I loved it too! I would even go so far as to say that John Travolta was brilliantly cast. I completely cried when his character finally left the house.

I declare it officially unfair that I live so far from you when we both love to play board games. It's just not right, yo.

And even when I move, I'm only cutting the distance from something like 808 miles to 473-ish. (Not that I looked, or anything.)

Maybe not ALL of them--some of them have to be icky sorts, y'know? But we're fabulous, so that doesn't apply to us.

I might have to give the drive a try, sometime after I move. Just for the Trivial Pursuit, you understand. Not because it's been too long since I've seen you, or anything.

I have to say that I buy Gap jeans all the time, and they have all stretched out a bit at least. I do tend to buy jeans rather tight, and then they end up being perfect...you just have to suffer through a few wearings with a muffin top. I hope yours work out!

September for me means looming deadlines, so it's not always so good. But it sounds like you've been having fun, so yay.

I'm glad that the French classes have worked out! What kind of bellydance is your class? (Not that I'm an expert; I just have a few LJ/RL friends who dance - mainly tribal.)

I take cabaret-style classes. Tribal isn't that big here in Toronto, although it's growing. It's never really appealed that much to me (except for the awesome decorative makeup and costumes).

You can always wash the jeans in hottish water and dry the hell out of them, if they start getting too big (e.g., throw them in with a load of towels and stuff). That usually shows mine who's boss.

It does feel like September -- I mean, duh, but I was thinking that there are lots of signs around. The back to school sales... the leaves that are falling even though it's still warm out... ads for the new TV season... definitely September.

Boy I wish I'd read that thing about buying jeans tight before last week...I bought a nice pair of carpenter jeans from a British shop and they are now literally falling off. I had to break down and buy an actual belt today. Ah well, at least they are perfect for chubby days.
