In my case it means that the sunburn is peeling. I can barely resist the urge to rub my back up against the doorframe.

Ohhhhh I understand that. Luckily I've managed to avoid any painful sunburns this year, but I did get a passel of mosquito bites earlier, and I was rubbing against anything solid.

Mine are too! I have to do a full-hand rub in order to not tickle myself.

(You should have seen me the first massage I ever got. I could not stop laughing, and I kept jerking out of the way of the masseuse. I'm ticklish everywhere!)

For me, itchiness signals that time when I have to get out the pumice stone and de-barnacle my feet. I get awful calluses, and have to work on them constantly. It's disgusting.

Dr Scholls used to sell this cream that melted the calluses right off - some kind of rub-on acid or something, and I loved the stuff but they don't sell it in Canada anymore. Stupids.

According to my mother, if it's your right foot, you're going on a trip, and if it's your left foot, you will have to travel for some EVIL reason... or at least, a reason not of your choosing.

She has folklore about any part of your body that may ever be itchy - never scratch where my mother can see you!!

The soles of my feet are super itchy too, because I have mosquito bites!! On the soles of my feet! I kind of want to die. I have bites everywhere else, too, but the ones on my feet are about killing me.

(Why do I have bites on the soles of my feet? I went to Theatre Under The Stars the other night, and sat on the ground with my shoes off...)
