My body was in revolt yesterday. NOT FUN. I ended up not buying groceries after work because I didn't think I could be away from a bathroom that long, although I had nothing in the house, so I did stop by the world's best corner store to get some necessities. And also bread and peanut butter, because toast and peanut butter was about the only thing that sounded edible (besides, of course, tinned pineapple, which my brain thinks is the cure for all ills).

This is when it would be very useful to live with someone, so that when I am sick, I could come home and throw myself in bed, and have someone buy me ginger ale. Taking care of yourself when you're sick is lame.

I think I'm mostly better today, although things still feel a little unsettled. It didn't help that my apartment was so hot last night and this morning that I couldn't really breathe properly. I had to moisturize in the living room because I thought I was going to faint if I stayed in the bathroom one more minute. I think there's something wrong if I'm sleeping with no covers and contemplating turning on the air conditioning in MARCH. When there's still SNOW ON THE GROUND.

Hi! I'm apparently grumpy today! Let's blame it on not enough sleep and the prospect of having to cover the front desk because too many people are away.

My apartment was a sauna all weekend, so I had to open all of the windows, put on all of the fans, and also seriously considered the air conditioning. It's just insane.

I hope you're feeling better today. *sends you virtual ginger ale*

taking care of yourself when you're sick seriously sucks. *sends ginger ale*

Awww. The next time you're ill, we're going to pack you very carefully in styrofoam peanuts and whisk you off to Chicago to take care of you. I'm very good at puchasing crackers and all-fruit popsicles, drawing luke-warm baths, and perparing room-temperature water with a bendy straw. Carey is excellent at tucking-in and piling on blankets (in the case where you've got the chills while your body is revving up a nice fever).

Or, perhaps, we should whisk ourselves to Toronto, since your hospitals don't charge $1,000 if you should have to hit the ER for IV fluids.

I hope both of you are nicely on the mend, anyway. (Carey just slept through the night! Woo-hoo!) If it's any consolation, our apt. has been pretty warm of late, too, since the radiators are apparently on a timer, not a thermostat.

I think there is something to this pineapple thing. It's the first thing I think of when I want to eat something nutritious, and I've often wondered why.

Hope you get back to 100% soon!

oh man, i know how that goes. most of the time i am okay not having anyone around, but there are times when someone to make an apple juice run while i am slowly dying would be nice.

covering the front desk is also for the lose. i hope your day improves!

My first apartment in Boston was totally like that - I had the windows open all winter long. :P

The wasted energy bothered me lots! But on the other hand, I'd rather that than have owner-controlled heating that is not enough, like in my last apartment. :P

Hey! This is why you have friends in the neighbourhood! I would gladly pop by with some soup & ginger ale if you like.

Particularly because I'm sure you probably caught whatever I had last week. :( Although I'm glad to hear it seems to be passing more quickly.

It's been really hot at our house, too. I'm wandering around in tank tops and behaving very violently towards the duvet in the middle of the night.

I'm wondering if maybe the radiators have simply taken four months to heat up. Now begins the four-month cooling-off period, I assume. Bleargh.

This is a lesson to me never to ignore the promptings of the brain. I had to go out to a meeting yesterday evening and on my way home I was tempted to call you, but didn't, because it was like 9:30 and what would I have been calling you about? But I could have said "how are you?" and you'd have said "sick as a dog" and I'd have popped by with supplies as easy as pie. Now I feel bad. :(
