Ages ago (like, last year), I decided to join the 21st century, so I poked and questioned and finally figured out this whole "downloading" thing that people keep talking about. And through the magic of torrents, I found the missing episode of Kitchen Confidential, the one with Michael Vartan that never aired. Except when I tried to play it, I only got sound and swirly things. No chefs. Sad!

All that keeping up with the times nearly killed me. I had failed, so I gave up. But then a random comment last week led me to realize that I could probably make things better. Woo! So I searched around and found that I needed a codec, and then found the codec that I needed, downloaded that, and la la la, picture!

And then I had to remind myself how to use uTorrent so that I could download Torchwood. Which took all night. But now I have tv on my computer. It's a little exciting.

broadband costs are just unfathomable to me. i pirate slow wifi at home to get me through email, lj, and torrents, and when i have to want to dl anything huge and fast i go out. so far as i can tell in seattle, you're only allowed broadband sans phone or cable tv if you are willing to pay through the nose. which i am not.

or maybe i am just really cheap :)

That's one of the best things about finally having DSL (even if it is the slow kind), that I can download things instead of begging people to do it for me. I've been using shareaza for torrents, but mostly just because it was recommended to me - I don't actually have much to compare it to.

And hey- Torchwood! I just spent a whole day downloading the latest of that, and watched at 4 am last night after I got my work done. What do you think of it?

you know that there's, like, 7 or 8 OTHER unaired in the states and canada episodes of kitchen confidential, right? all 13 aired in australia and very kind people turned them into files that are available for download. and it's all GOOOOOD, which made me even sadder that FOX canned it last season, because after i finished the ones that were available i wanted MORE.

if for some reason you can't find them, let me know and i'm certain we could arrange a trade involving a dvd full of the whole run of the series. :)

Arrrrr A Pirate's life for you

Good times with the Bittorrent.

For anyone else out there who may have codec issues, I recommend you download the K-Lite Codec Pack 2.XX Standard [6.35 MB] (or Full if you're greedy). Install the pack, and you'll have every codec your little heart desires. And if you have want to know what codec any given video file is encoded as, you can find out with G-Spot.

Now that you've got TV on your computer, do you want the rest of the BSG episodes?

Hee! I've just recently discovered the joys of torrents. My latest bit of piracy is downloading The Queen.

Same here! I always end up pausing whatever I am watching to do other things.
