...And apparently we're going to dive right into the montages. Oh dear.

Harry, dude, what ARE those faces you're making? If that's what you look like on stage, no wonder your first show tanked.

Oh, lord, those people look uncomfortable -- except for the one snapping along. Heh.

Kyra Sedgewick's dress looks like an upside-down onion. I don't know.

Ooh, I like the colour of Anna Paquin's dress. Actually, the whole thing is pretty cute.

First award for The History Boys. I've heard excellent things about that play -- I wish I could see it.

That picture? I don't know, man. That was seriously bland. At least Bebe Newarth didn't wait for hours in between each name, unlike some people (Josh Lucas, I'm looking at you).

Nicholas Hytner, you're nominated for a Tony! Look a little excited. And again, dude, you won! You look like they just called your name at the doctor.

Hee, cute lead-in to The Drowsy Chaperone. And that's the same guy that we saw here, right? Also, does Sutton Foster have oddly pointy teeth, or is that just me?

Blind Paul Rudd! Ha. And I love Lauren Ambrose's dress. And Lauren Ambrose. I've been staring at Six Feet Under all weekend, so I got a little confused when I saw her - why is Claire on stage? What happened to her bangs?

EEEE DON MCKELLAR! The Drowsy Chaperone boys are so adorable.

Barbara Cook, I'm sorry, but you're a terrible presenter.

Ooh, that's two for Chaperone! Awesome.

PEI shoutout! Heh.

Oh, Neil Patrick Harris, I love you. So much. And you and Joanna Gleason should present everything.

SWEENEY TODD. SO WONDERFUL. Omg, how much do I want to see that production? Just...so much. God. Patti Lupone is a little scary, though. And we didn't see her playing the tuba, which is very sad. If that doesn't win for Best Revival, there is no justice.

Wow, I actually liked John Doyle's speech. Normally I hate all the speeches.

Jersey Boys. Boring.

Audra McDonald, when are you coming out with a new album? Hurry up!

I like Kristin Bell's dress, too. How is it that people are so much classier at the Tonys than the Oscars?

The costumes for The Wedding Singer are...oh man. In my imaginary wedding, I want everyone to wear clothes like that.

I just saw a 2 second clip of Alan Cumming and I actually shrieked. Lonely as it is, it's probably better that I'm watching alone, if only for the protection of other peoples' eardrums. :D

I have no idea who TR Knight is, but funny! Hee.

...although not as funny as Beth Leavel. Bwa.

Um, tiara? I don't think so.

Threepenny Opera. And I just shrieked again. Sigh. Um, yeah, I think I'd like to see that, too. DUDE.

Wow, they're really pushing those Ontario commercials. Huh.

Rod from Avenue Q feels the same way about Alan Cumming that I do.

Oh, and it's our first crier of the evening.

Dude. DUDE. What are those random people doing on stage during the Hal Prince tribute? That was tremendously bizarre.

Oops, someone forgot their lyrics there.

The exception, of course, to the classy dress rule is Julia Roberts. What is with the back?

Wow, 10:04 and that's our first musical playoff. Not bad.

Harry Connick Jr and Kelly O'Hara are seriously acting in two different plays. (Also, dude, this is the worst tv reception I've have seen in years. Is there some sort of storm happening in New York? It keeps cutting in and out.)

Whoa, eyebrows! Did you see those? There were actual wings.

...and there is no justice. Pajama Game? Are you kidding me? But...Sweeney Todd! And Threepenny Opera in leather! How could they even...?

Hello Alfre Woodard's breasts!

The History Boys, that's not a surprise. But why their play-on music is "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered", I couldn't tell you.

The scene from The Color Purple just makes me want to read the book again.

Hmmm -- Jersey Boys is doing pretty well. I thought Drowsy Chaperone was a lock, but what if I'm wrong?

Oh, Bernadette Peters.

I loved Chita Rivera's "oh my, what a surprise, I'm nominated for an award?" face during the Best Actress nominees pan and scan.

LaChanze, huh. Interesting.

Best Musical! Whoa. Jersey Boys? Bah! Okay, I haven't seen it, but it reminds me of summer stock theatre.

Oh, Tony. I have to say, though, that it's easier watching it with people so that there's someone else there to absorb some of the disappointment. Maybe next year!

I didn't know you were watching them alone! I would have invited you over to watch them with me!

Here is how ridiculous I am: I seriously almost cried when The Drowsy Chaperone took its Best Book and Score awards. I am surging with T.O. pride! Also, sometimes I see Lisa around the neighborhood. And I saw the show when it was in its infancy at Passe Muraille! I just think it's all so fabulous, and Bob Martin is about the cutest person alive.

TONY!!!!!!

I've heard that Jersey Boys is actually really good, but come on! It's a jukebox musical with old tunes-how could it beat the adorable Drowsy Chaperone??!?!? All wrong.

All night I was wishing that I was watching them with you! And making theme martinis!

Yay, my boyfriend Don McKellar!

TR Knight is on Grey's Anatomy (as is Sara Ramirez), and is adorable.

Harry sounded rough during the opening (I likedthe Pajama Game stuff, though-looked lively and fun), but as SJ said while we watched, they've all just finished an 8 show week, so no wonder their voices are tired,

Bernadette! Audra! Alan Cumming! Doogie!

I liked Beth Leavel's speech, although I was scared by Lisa Lambert.

Sweeney Todd!! I need to be in a John Doyle everyone-plays-instruments show.

I taped it, and am probably going to watch the whole damn thing again tomorrow night with the BF (hee!), who had a gig tonight.

In conclusion, YAY!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I agree that the Jersey Boys scene was not exciting. I didn't really care for either of the winning actor's speeches, either (not that that says anything about the show itself, they just rubbed me the wrong way.)

And, although the Pajama Game montage was fun, how could it beat Sweeney??? All wrong, I tell you.

*weeps* I can't believe I missed the Tonys! And it was such a fun year, what with Chaperone and Sweeney. Urgh.

You should definitely see The History Boys. Definitely brilliant, definitely worth it, definitely scored daughter of the year points by taking my mother to see if for her birthday.
