I will try to keep this short. I promise.
The Big One: Early Michael Moore. It was ok, but he definitely got more interesting later on.
Closer: This was fabulous. A bit depressing, but a fantastic look at screwed up relationships, with awesome acting. Although I did spend much of the time trying to picture Cate Blanchett in the Julia Roberts role, as it had been originally cast.
Day After Tomorrow: Completely silly. I'm still not over the wolves.
Dirty Pretty Things: Somewhere in my brain I thought this was a gangster movie, but actually it was about the world of illegal immigrants in London. I quite liked it.
Fahrenheit 9/11: Despite the fact that it occasionally went off topic (and the fact that Michael Moore managed once again to return to Flint), this was thought-provoking, angering and very informative.
Finding Neverland: I think I mentioned the crying. Also, I really liked the movie - it was beautifully filmed and actually quite touching.
Jersey Girl: I actually quite enjoyed this. Despite the Affleck. It's a completely different side of Kevin Smith, though.
Lost in Translation: My favourite thing about this movie, which was beautiful and intriguing, was how most of the scenes were very short, just little vignettes or moments. Really nicely done.
The Motorcycle Diaries: I really enjoyed this. Very much. Also, Gael Garcia Bernal is still hot.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith: I enjoyed it at the time, but looking back I can't believe how much violence was allowed for the rating (which was PG-13, I think), especially as compared to how little actual sex and nudity was shown. Not that that's anything new.
My Summer of Love: I feel like I talked about this already. Hmm.
The Office Season 1: This was so incredibly painful to watch (although funny!). So painful, in fact, that I tried to watch season 2 and just couldn't.
Sabah: I love watching movies set in Toronto.
Six Feet Under Season 2: Oh, these poor people. Such angst!
The Wedding Date: I saw this on the plane on the way to BC. It was pretty stupid. The most irritating part was that it started, without any explanation, with Debra Messing running off to get on a plane with the guy she hired to play her boyfriend at her sister's wedding. Um, aren't you going to tell us why she's doing this? No? Ooookay.
Wire Season 2: God, I love this show. Brilliant writing, fabulous cast. Season 2 is maybe not as engrossing as season 1, but still awesome.

"The Day after Tomorrow"
Date: 2005-08-08 02:49 am (UTC)I've never watched the Office....why is it painful? Is it of the "omg I'm so embarassed for them I can't watch" variety?

Date: 2005-08-08 03:02 am (UTC)I don't know. I'm glad I saw it, but I have no interest in ever seeing it again.
The only other one of those I've seen was Lost in Translation, which made me cry at the end. I loved it.

Date: 2005-08-08 03:13 am (UTC)Oh yeah, and Jude Law = yum.
Is the Big One the one where he goes to talk to Phil Knight (CEO of Nike)? I've seen so many Michael Moore movies, they blur together. If so, I would just like to say that the Knights lived up the hill from me growing up, and when we went trick-or-treating at his house we got full-sized candy bars. Thank you. And when I worked as a temp at Nike, the employees got free beer every time a new product was showcased, got new gear all of the time (especially if they were willing to publicly destroy gear from competitors), and were allowed to spend an hour working out every day at Nike's cool facilities.
Oh and you've reminded me to add The Motorcycle Diaries to my Netflix queue!
