Having decided that I'm not ready to give up cable entirely, I had a brief moment last night of thinking that I would probably survive without the internet at home. I think I'm over that. :D But I'm still trying to find more things I can cut out in order to save money.

Also, musicians need to learn that actually *telling* us the song titles on their albums does not mean they're selling out.

Onward to polls, including, but not exclusive to, moving, sleepwear, and vile vegetables. )

So this is Thursday, eh?

Will Ferguson Canadian History for Dummies

I was a shameful excuse for a Canadian, and then I read this book and now I know all sorts of things about Canada's past that I did not know before. Plus Will Ferguson is funny, and always makes me laugh, even if he does quote himself too often. Also, Canadian history is not boring, and mocking Brian Mulroney is fun.

And that's all I read this week. Actually, no, I lie, because I've been reading this book for months now, and mostly this week I read other things which I'm only partway through, so next week I should have lots of things to talk about, including teenagers, sex and hobbits (although not together).

I am very disappointed in all you people who actually like green peppers. NO LOVE! Do you at least agree with me on the wrongitude of beets?

[livejournal.com profile] zoje_george wins for reminding me that I have to go to the bank so that I can actually pay the damn movers, and [livejournal.com profile] sh1mm3r has the most class for suggesting that I inform my neighbours that there will be people tromping up and down the stairs. Probably a good idea, considering how many heads popped out of apartments as we dragged [livejournal.com profile] vestra's dresser down the hall last night. I actually went and picked up my keys this afternoon, and today after work I'm heading to the new apartment armed with a measuring tape to figure out where the furniture will fit.

Also, I'm not sure how I managed to forget pyjama* bottoms and tank top, considering that's what I wear (at least when there are other people around). Durr.

Finally, because [livejournal.com profile] eanja asked and in the interest of completeness, I'm already at the most basic level of cable, I can have high-speed (cable) internet without a land line but I'd need a land line to go back to dial-up, and I've already decided to try live with just the cellphone, assuming my new landlords can hook the intercom up to my cell like they said they could. I'm probably going to take all your advice and see if I can cancel my EW subscription, though. Sigh.

*Look, [livejournal.com profile] yiskah, I'm using the correct spelling now. Actually, I had a conversation with someone last week about which spelling was right, because I randomly waffle back and forth. I can never decide what looks better!
