My stomach and my brain are obviously in no way connected.

Proof: I really REALLY want a bagel (multigrain yum!) and peanut butter right now. So very much. Sadly, the last two times that I ate a bagel and peanut butter, lo those many months ago, I felt like complete ass afterward. My stomach just can't handle that much wheat, and combined with the fat and sugar in the peanut butter, it was all bad news.

Do you think this makes any difference to my brain?

Nooooooo.

It's just sitting there chanting "bagelbagelbagelbagelbagelbagelbagel".

Aieeee! The brain is totally fired.

Bagel.

I just threw up my bagel.
Maybe that will help you rid your brain of the desire for bagels?

On a totally unrelated note, Herr Doktor (are you tired of being called that yet? Shall I call you Dr. Jeebus, instead?), I told my friend [livejournal.com profile] glass_hurricane to add you. Her sense of humour fits. And she rocks.

/letter of reference.

Added!

You may call me Dr. Jeebus, but perhaps Dr. J would be safer in public. Heh.

Maybe if yuo only had half a bagel then the competing forces of mind and stomach could reach a compromise.

Bah to your stomach and mind not agreeing. They should make a conference where they get together to decide what is good for you and what isn't.

On a non-related note because of your mention of AnnMarie McDonald I picked up a used copy of Fall On Your Knees yesterday. I've read it before but never had my own copy.

Mmm! Bagel and peanut butter! Toasted? So crunchy and warm.

I think I know what I'm going to have for lunch...

(Sorry — I realize that this probably didn't help. ;)

Ooh... sushi!

I could really go for some of that right now.

And it's only a block and a half away! :D (Huzzah for being so close to Baldwin St.!)

My solution is usually to have whatever condiment I'm craving on crackers -- maybe you can even find some wheat-free ones. By the time you've eaten enough peanut butter to, if not satisfy you, then glue your lips together so you can't eat any more, at least you won't have had a massive bagel.

Too late to help you when you needed it, but what does your stomache think about rye? Dark rye bagels are delicious toasted, especially with peanut butter, and have much less wheat than a normal bagel, if any at all.

(Now I'm hungry for a Toasted Rye Bagel w/ PB, and it's waaay too late to do anything about that..)

I believe the Open Window Bakery (just West of Bari) will have them.
