What, sheep, me?

I don't have a playlist, because I am Not Cool Enough for that shit, and still cling resolutely to my CDs. Of course, I spend 8 hours a day in a room with 175,000 of the damn things.
So, I'm doing the dork version of the lyrics meme, also known as Look what's sitting on my desk at work! I took 25 random CDs* and picked a line from the third song on the CD.
1. I write myself this later, I tell myself you let me go
2. You're the only one who's miffed about it
3. The clear voice of bad choice sounding like an ache in my day
4.But what if I'm a mermaid in these jeans of his Tori Amos, Silent All These Years, guessed by
caffeinediary
5.I should give you every rose that ever grew This Flower, Kasey Chambers, guessed by
minervacat
6.You're the reason why the opera is in me U2, Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own, guessed by
tinpanalley
7. You can go and be what you want to be and it'll be alright if we disagree
8. The cat on her mind the ring in her tanline
9.So get yourself up off your past, friend/There's so much to rearrange Bobby Darin, Change, guessed by
dramaqueen_23
10. Hydromatic overdrive four-on-the-floor/Pushbutton windows pushbutton doors
11. I thought you were an intellect/But now that I reflect, you left me reeling
12.But still I'd rather be famous than righteous or holy The Smiths, Frankly, Mr. Shankley, guessed by
bruiseblue
13. No throwing things or throwing up
14. With a waiter with a face made for currency
15. Cos all I have are secrets and memories of the dark
16. The wind's blowing warm to the one I love
17. I said there'd been a flood, I said there's nothing left
18. Volunteers are soon forgotten and many more of us shall die
19. Take your economy car and your suitcase/Take your psycho little dogs
20. And if he smiles, it's no more than a genius deserves/For all his curious nerve and his passion
21.She smiled and rung me up/Orange juice $3.29 Jill Scott, Exclusively, guessed by
crimsonkitty
22.And since folks here to an absurd degree/Seem fixated on your verdigris Wicked, The Wizard and I, also guessed by
tinpanalley
23.I stole this sweater from a costume shop/It makes me look like Daisy Mae The Last 5 Years, See I'm Smiling, guessed by
swedishfrogs
24. My Sally's like the ravens wing her hair is like her mothers'/With hands that make quick work of a chore and eyes like the top of a stove
25. Like the Magi on the hill/I can divinate your presence from afar
*They're not entirely random - I was kind and ignored the Christmas CDs littering my desk, and also all the indie promo CDs that no-one will have ever heard of. Also the classical. Plus, be warned, these are not at all indicative of my taste in music, since at least half of them are things that I'm working on, rather than things that I'm listening to for fun.

and
#22 is from The Wizard and I from Wicked.
Those two were easy because I've been listening to both of those CDs a lot lately!

Date: 2004-12-14 06:19 pm (UTC)Except: #8 is a great line. #13 is going on a sampler to be hung in my front hallway. And #16 seems hauntingly familiar, but I'm pretty sure I don't know it anyway. (Sure sounds like Gordon Lightfoot or similar could sing it nicely, though, eh?)
