Happy Diwali and Eid!

My neighbourhood has a wonderful festival air this weekend. People everywhere, streets blocked off. There's an enormous video screen showing Bollywood films, and there've been fireworks every night since Wednesday. It's really fun, at least from in here. I'm sure it would be fun out there, too, but I don't really feel like being around all those people.

For dinner tonight I ate a box of cookies. It was a small box - only 15 cookies - but still. I thought you all needed to know that.

My cookies were no-name brand caramel coconut chocolate. Yum.

I had some garlic almonds.

Yes, I'm home. The movie was still no passes so we didn't go. And then starfishdude went out (with my blessing, I don't mind having alone time to read and do laundry) to watch some boxing or something.

And, clearly, sneak on to the Internet.

Clearly, we need to cook for each other more often.

Clearly. And possibly only shop in groups where we can shame ourselves into eating real food. Plus candy.

They are tasty and good. (Also, citrus almonds. Excellent in spinach salad.)

Um, probably the Saturday? listersgirl will probably go more than once (free re-admittance and all) because it's right across the street from her work, and I might go with my Mom one night, but Saturday (or Sunday, if one is better for you than the other) is probably the best day.

listersgirl, what do you think?

That's what I was thinking - the Saturday (the 27th) would be best since the Sunday is the last day. But if Sunday is better for you, idella, that would work too.

And whatever time works - if you take the bus in we can meet you at the bus depot.

I will take the bus, so if you could meet me at the bus depot, I'd appreciate it. I'm thinking I'll try and make it for noon-ish, or early afternoon. Does that sound okay? I'll check the bus schedule and get the exact time.

Everything I know about Diwali I Learned From Children's Picture Books

Diwali is one of those things I should know more about. One of the reasons I picked up Friday's K-W paper was because it had a article about it on the front cover. (Okay, what clinched the sale was the elementary school standardized test scores. That testing is the lamest thing ever, but, numbers!)

I had 3/4 of a bag of cheesy microwaved popcorn for supper. We're all-stars, all of us.

My co-worker and I have been working our way through a box of mint chocolate girl guide cookies tonight. I think I've definately had too much sugar. But they're so freaking yummy!
