When [livejournal.com profile] vestra came home, she brought her BPAL haul with her, so I got to try a few more scents.

Dana O'Shea - Sweet and warm, vaguely reminiscent of Queen of Sheba, but without the spices. Smells very nice on me, but nothing special. Also doesn't last particularly well.

Lady MacBeth - Mmm, this is lovely. Similar to Bordello, but without the biting undertone. I think the berry scents work really well with my body chemistry. It is awfully close to Bordello, though, at least to my nose, so I don't think I'll be picking it up. I might try it again, though.

Megaera - On first smell, I get that rush of grapefruit that Baobhan Sith has, but with a deep berry overtone. Fruity, but with oomph behind it. I'm liking it very much, and it just gets better through the day.

And finally Jack - This was very strong at first. Definite heavy pumpkin. But this time, on wearing, it settled down nicely on me, with the spice peaking through and making me smell like - you guessed it - dessert. Pumpkin pie, in fact. And I'm not complaining. Success, [livejournal.com profile] farpotshket!

I'm putting in another order soon, once everyone gets back to me, and I'm trying to narrow down my list. So far, this is what I'm choosing from:

Bewitched - Deep, luscious green and berry scents that evoke images of woodland witchcraft and the raw power of nature: blackberry, sage, green tea, wild berries and dark musk.

Bliss - the serotonin-slathered scent of pure milk chocolate.

Shattered - A blend of white champagne notes, grapefruit, lotus, slivered mint and crystalline aquatic blooms.

Voodoo - A deep, powerful, resonant blend of myrrh, patchouli, vetiver, lime, vanilla, pine, almond and clove.

Embalming Fluid - A light, pure scent: white musk, green tea, aloe and lemon.

Vice - A deep chocolate scent, with black cherry and orange blossom.

Carnal - Bold, bright mandarin paired with the sweet, sensual earthiness of fig.

Vixen - The innocence of orange blossom tainted by the beguiling scents of ginger and patchouli.

Akuma - Devilish temptation, as sweet as sin: blood orange, neroli, and raspberry.

Hellcat - hazelnut, buttercream, honey mead, rum and sweet almond.

Kumiho - A sharp, biting blend of crisp white tea and ginger.

March Hare - A twisted teatime tart: apricot and sweet clove.

Lust - Uncontrollable passion and insatiable sexual desire: red musk, patchouli, ylang ylang and myrrh.

Sin - Thoroughly corrupted: amber, sandalwood, black patchouli and cinnamon.

Succubus - Mimosa, orange blossom, neroli and bergamot with a drop of sweet clove.

Calliope - lavender and bright mint with bergamot, verbena, thyme and a touch of sweet orange and warm almond.

Phantasm - Green tea, lemon verbena, jasmine and neroli.

Tempest - The scent of the first gentle rain before the storm.

Le Petit Mort - The scent of warm, damp skin flushed with the glow of passion, touched by the luxuriant potency of ylang ylang and myrrh.

Lampades - Their scent is the crisp, inviting bittersweet tang of cranberry with smoky dark lilies, heady, sensual musk, a tingle of ginger and a brush of Mediterranean spices.

The Star – (tarot oil, no description, but supposedly coconut and lime)

Snake Oil - A blend of exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla.

Siren - White ginger, jasmine, and a touch of vanilla.

Sudha Segara - Sweet milk and warm, healing ginger with a touch of golden honey and our blend of Ambrosia.

I think Lampades, Kumiho and Carnal are definitely in. Other people are trying Sudha Segara, Hellcat, Akuma and Snake Oil, so I'll probably leave those for the moment. But that still leaves 3 to choose! Luckily I'm the one putting in the order, so I can wait until the very last minute.

Well, and why not? You could have a whole wardrobe of berry scents... "This is my workaday berry scent, and this is my evening out berry scent, and this is my depressed berry scent, and this is my going for a walk berry scent..."

Ooo, Shattered and Kumiho sound really nice. Actually, they all sound nice, which I suppose is the point. :)

I put in a little starting order a couple weeks ago-just one of the sampler sets, but I had Sin in there, because crimsonkitty's smelled so good, and Embalming Fluid, because I wanted something tea-scented. No other overlaps, though- my others were Othello, Spellbound, Whitechapel (again after trying crimsonkitty's) and Chypre. I'm not expecting them to arrive for quite some time yet.

I don't think it smelled particularly like lilac- it is meant as a men's cologne and I don't think of lilac as masculine at all. Or at least, it wasn't an overly sweet lilac - I love the smell of the flowers, but dislike most theoretically lilac scented things. But I suppose it depends how it reacts on you. It smelled good on me, and lasted a really long time (unusual on me), but I really am not good enough at differentiating odors to know what note I was particularly smelling. They apparently shipped my order yesterday, when it arrives, I'll ask my roomate what she thinks it smells like- she has a much better nose for these things.

At least half of those are on my wish list! Lampades is extremely yummy and wonderful, and you absolutely must include it. Also, I cannot believe how much restraint I have shown, to have not yet ordered Sudha Segara.

Well of course, you can try my Akuma, Snake Oil and Hellcat---so don't get those.

Some of your others were also on my shortlist--we have quite similar tastes in scents, as we know....Ones I was *very* close to getting include Kumiho, Vice, Carnal, and March Hare. And included on my slightly longer shortlist were:Sudha Segera, Le Petit Mort, Phantasm, and Succubus!

I'm so excited to order!
