Urinetown was excellent. So much fun! And the cast was uniformly strong. We got $10 same-day front row tickets, which could have been potentially frustrating, but actually they were great seats, especially considering we only paid $10, instead of regular price $45-$85. It's kind of fun sitting that close - you can see the expressions of the actors, and it just feels truly live. Plus the way this was staged there was some entertaining interaction with the front row. I'm definitely going again - how could I not, with tickets that cheap? I have to wait until I've fully recovered from laughing so hard, though.
Speaking of ...music? (Nice segue there.) I don't really keep up with Top 40-type music at all these days, other than what crosses my desk or what I hear at the gym. But there's this song that I keep flipping by on MuchMusic, and it's really stuck in my head: "This Love" by Maroon 5. Should I be embarrassed by this? Are we talking empty calories, "why do people like this" music? Or have some of you been sucked in? I don't even know what the song's about, which is abnormal for me and my love of good lyrics, but the melody is not leaving my brain. Hey, I think I finally understand why people download things! I'm too scared to buy the whole album, in case this is a fluke, but I want that song.

Date: 2004-06-17 08:04 am (UTC)It made me laugh, because the first time I saw the video it was on a One-Hit Wonders special. How can you be a one-hit wonder when you've only released one single so far? Don't you need to at least attempt to release a second single?

Date: 2004-06-17 07:52 am (UTC)As for the album, it's pretty good. The first track on the album "Harder to Breathe" is truely my favorite, but the rest of the album is pretty much like "This Love". If you want to, you should pick it up off of iTunes, unless your in Canada.
In that case, steal it. The track listing is on Amazon.

These guys are a great band. I was pretty sure of that with "Harder to Breathe", but "This Love" just proved to me that they are also gifted with the "Catchy Songwriting" gene!
