Urinetown was excellent. So much fun! And the cast was uniformly strong. We got $10 same-day front row tickets, which could have been potentially frustrating, but actually they were great seats, especially considering we only paid $10, instead of regular price $45-$85. It's kind of fun sitting that close - you can see the expressions of the actors, and it just feels truly live. Plus the way this was staged there was some entertaining interaction with the front row. I'm definitely going again - how could I not, with tickets that cheap? I have to wait until I've fully recovered from laughing so hard, though.

Speaking of ...music? (Nice segue there.) I don't really keep up with Top 40-type music at all these days, other than what crosses my desk or what I hear at the gym. But there's this song that I keep flipping by on MuchMusic, and it's really stuck in my head: "This Love" by Maroon 5. Should I be embarrassed by this? Are we talking empty calories, "why do people like this" music? Or have some of you been sucked in? I don't even know what the song's about, which is abnormal for me and my love of good lyrics, but the melody is not leaving my brain. Hey, I think I finally understand why people download things! I'm too scared to buy the whole album, in case this is a fluke, but I want that song.

I hear that song on the radio all the time and it's totally gotten me, too. I always turn it up and sing along. Given the frequency with which it is played, I suspect I am lame.

I also turn up and dance to "Toxic" by Britney Spears, so I suspect that I also don't care that I'm lame. :)

That song is catchy. I like hearing it once in a while-my brother has an mp3 of it and plays it often.

They played at my brother's hs. That led me to beleive they're a local band. They're not. Apperantly, Bob Coast-who is graduating with my brother-has connections and got them to play for free at the school. Same with John Mayer playin at the senior prom.

The song is about a girl who was too much for him, very demanding.

As for the album, it's pretty good. The first track on the album "Harder to Breathe" is truely my favorite, but the rest of the album is pretty much like "This Love". If you want to, you should pick it up off of iTunes, unless your in Canada.

In that case, steal it. The track listing is on Amazon.

I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed it and that you're going again. I'm definitely going to see it again too, hopefully from the front row for $10. I saw the woman who plays Miss Pennywise last night (I used to babysit for her kids) and she told me they're kind of hurting in terms of ticket sales. The run has been extended to September, though, so that's good. But spread the good word! Urinetown! Funniest show in Toronto!

I love "This Love". The fact that it is on the radio at least twice every time I get in the car leads me to believe that I am lame. But there is nothing wrong with a catchy, well-crafted pop song... they're the Godiva Chocolate of the music world.

When I was in Montreal in April, a friend of mine from New Jersey told me that it was being played constantly in the US, but I hadn't really heard it. To be fair, since I got an iPod, I haven't listened to much radio at all in the car, which is where all of my radio listening happens.

Once I added the song to my iPod, I felt more in touch with society. There is a FANTASTIC acoustic version available, which just increases my love for the song! These guys are a great band. I was pretty sure of that with "Harder to Breathe", but "This Love" just proved to me that they are also gifted with the "Catchy Songwriting" gene!
