Question for computer people

listersgirlMy laptop (which is running Windows XP, I believe) has been freezing up 2 or 3 times a night for the past couple of weeks. Sometimes even when I'm in the middle of typing a word, which, argh. And then I have to reboot. Sigh.
Does anyone have any idea why it might be doing this?
I realize this is obnoxiously vague, but I'm just looking for a hint of direction here, so I can decide if it's something that is fixable or not.
