Fact: $1 mini gloves are great when you are wearing a west coast fleece and gortex combo and can tuck your hands inside your sleeves if it gets too cold, but they are not so useful when you decide that Victoria is not nearly as cold as Toronto (ha!) and only bring home your fall vinyl jacket, which doesn't have sleeves long enough to tuck your hands into.

I cannot feel my hands now.

Not the New Years meme thingy

I was going to follow the crowd and do the new years meme, but I realized that for the first time in a long time, pretty much nothing changed this year. I live in the same city and same apartment with the same wonderful roommate, I'm still entirely single and still pretty much resigned to that fact, I have the same job with all the same people (at least for another few days, but then it's 2004, so it doesn't count). No one I know has died, no one has gotten married, no one has had a kid or gotten a new pet. I've had two friends move away and one move back, and I've met a couple of wonderful new people, but that's really about the extent of the excitement around here.

No wonder I keep feeling like I want *something* to happen, so that at least when I run into people I haven't seen in a year I have a conversation piece. So no meme for you, because who wants to read 40 answers that consist mostly of No, Nothing, and Not Really?

I just started reading the newest Helen Fielding book (Olivia Joules, which seems to have not yet been released in North America (this copy was left at the house after a transatlantic journey)), and it's, well, crap.

Yup. I somehow doubt that I'm going to finish it, unless I get sucked in to the trainwreckness of the whole thing. It's sad, too, because I really liked Bridget Jones' Diary. Of course, I didn't much like any of her other books, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.
