Bride & Prejudice was very fun. Maybe not an actual good movie, in the strictest sense of the word, but I enjoyed myself immensely, despite the fact that the lead actress kept reminding me of Debra Messing. Still, there was singing and dancing! Naveen Andrews! Gorgeous costumes! Elephants! Marching bands! And now I really want to see Monsoon Wedding and Bend It Like Beckham again.
Other things I have been watching recently:
Men With Brooms: This could have been a good movie, if they'd stuck with the traditional deadpan Canadian movie style, instead of pretending it was a cheesy Hollywood blockbuster-wannabe. But there were some very funny bits, and lots of mocking of Canadian stereotypes (I mean, come on, it's a movie about CURLING and it starts with a beaver montage to "Land of the Silver Birch"), which always makes me laugh. Plus Paul Gross and Molly Parker! I love them.
Saved!: Hee! Funny. Definitely worth watching.
DaVinci's Inquest: The first season of the Canadian drama set in a Vancouver coroner's office. I've got one disc left, but I've enjoyed what I've seen so far. It's very understated and really tied to its Vancouver location. Also I think that Callum Keith Rennie shows up for a few episodes next season, if that ever makes it on to DVD.
Slings & Arrows: My god, I love Canadian TV. Paul Gross, Mark McKinney and Don McKellar together in an over-the-top portrayal of a theatre festival (a thinly disguised Stratford), complete with ghosts, insanity, Bay Street mocking and American pretty boy actors. Ha!
21 Jump Street: Oh, the cheesiness. Oh, the joy.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: I finally got around to seeing this. Definitely better than the other two (not that I didn't like them, because I did, but this one has a lot more depth). I have no idea how they're going to film the next books, though, considering how long they are.
The Hour With George Stroumboulopoulos: I am all up with the current events, and it's entirely thanks to George, the CBC Newsworld love of my life.
Lost, Alias, Gilmore Girls, The O.C., CSI, Arrested Development, and Rick Mercer's Monday Report. But you probably already knew that.
