I'm going to be so glad when this move is over - I'm starting to bore even myself. Just be glad I didn't post this morning, when I was deeply embroiled in an argument with myself over whether or not I really *need* cable.
Instead, I have more BPAL reviews, from the imps that
crimsonkitty was so sweet as to send to me.
Bliss
A shot of pure, self-indulgent euphoria! A scent that is very, very wicked in its own way: the serotonin-slathered scent of pure milk chocolate.
The name says it all - it makes me unbelievably happy.
Blood Amber
Slivers of warm, pulsating blood forever crystallized in golden amber resin.
Amber doesn't do great things on my skin, so I wasn't expecting much from this. It wasn't terrible - like a very dry incense - but not something I'd wear.
Chimera
The fiery, volatile scent of cinnamon, thickened by myrrh, honeysuckle, and copal.
I tried this one without having read the description, and I never would have come up with those scents, but I actually really like it. It's sweet, but the cinnamon gives it a nice spicy edge. I need to try wearing it for a day to see how it weathers, but so far so good.
Delirium
Non compos mentis, indeed! A contrary, conflicted scent, bubbling with merry madness. Contains apple, rose, and lemon.
I really wanted to like this. It started out wonderfully, but the lemon became waaaay too strong and started smelling like cleaning products.
Jailbait
Innocence defiled. Sticky pink bubblegum and the thick, sweet scent of orange and cherry lollipops smeared over a breath of heady womanly perfume.
Holy sweet! The description is totally accurate - bubblegum and lollipops. It's fun, but I'm not entirely sure I can imagine wearing it for long periods of time.
Ligeia
And the will therein lieth, which dieth not. Who knoweth the mysteries of the will, with its vigor? For God is but a great will pervading all things by nature of its intentness. Man doth not yield himself to the angels, nor unto death utterly, save only through the weakness of his feeble will. Jasmine, juniper berry and rose geranium.
Ugh. This did not work for me at all. I can't even tell you what it smelled like, because I couldn't go near it a second time.
Magdalene
A stirring yet gentle perfume. The scent of love and devotion mingled with an undercurrent of heart-rending sorrow. A bouquet of white roses, labdanum, and wild orchid.
This didn't work either - way too floral, and I think I don't like rose smells much.
Roadhouse
Truck stop sleaze. Weedy dandelion and hops with a whiff of tobacco and hemp and a swirl of booziness.
Okay, I got nothing like the description from this. To me it was a very dense, almost sweet floral.
My BPAL group, I'll try to remember to bring the remainders out next time we're all together, so you can see if you like any of them.
