I thought George did a really good job with the Tommy special but there were a couple of things I found odd:
1. Why didn't they air this one on Wednesday? October 20, 2004 is the 100th anniversary of Douglas' birth.
2. When he was talking about Tommy's scary ability to see the right thing while something was happening instead of in hindsight, he never mentioned the fact that Tommy was the only politician in Canada to oppose PET's use of the War Measures Act in 1970. He objected to the fact that it completely circumvented civil rights. Tommy would have had a field day with today's anti-terrorism legislation.
Can I also say that I am appalled that Don Cherry was nominated? Don fucking Cherry beat out Louis Riel for a spot in the top ten??!!! There is obviously something wrong with this country. And where are the women?
