Friday five
If you...
1. ...owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?
It was long ago decided that any restaurant would have to be a side dish restaurant, in honour of the fact that mostly we want the dessert for the whipping cream, the salad for the salad dressing, and the chips for the dip.
sarcasma, this was with you, right? I'm not losing my mind? So, yeah, a restaurant where the menu consists of sauces, dips, spreads and toppings.
2. ...owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell?
Oh, probably locally made kitchy things, although at one point I had grand plans to open a store that sold everything to do with musicals: CDs, sheet music, posters, books, knick-knacks. Of course, then I discovered that if you went to real cities, there actually were stores like these.
3. ...wrote a book, what genre would it be?
Definitely a romance novel. Then I could count all the ones I've read as research. Plus, you know, I always want to read one where the woman is a vegetarian, or has actual good taste in music, so I probably should just write it myself.
4. ...ran a school, what would you teach?
Can't I just run the school, and let someone else do the teaching? Sad to say, I'd probably be a great administrator. I don't know, maybe I'd teach the finer techniques of not being able to make small talk, and how to ignore your co-workers in 5 easy lessons.
5. ...recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?
Cabaret songs, definitely. And funny songs from musicals.

Fun!
1. ...owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?
I guess this depends on whether or not *I* have to actually make the food. If so, I would run a funky and yet classy cafe where I served my famous cheesecake (among other delectables) and made lattes to put Starbucks to shame. I would also have live music at this cafe, becoming one of Toronto's hot spots for fabulous jazz and cabaret acts. Oh yeah.
2. ...owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell?
Well...I might steal PJ's idea (or go in with him) and open a store specializing in concert gowns. We have observed that not only do people not know how to dress themselves properly for recitals, but there are also few places to *find* the right kind of dresses. It's either Prom or Old Lady sometimes. We've brainstormed this idea before. The store would be near the new COC building, and would also have a baby grand inside for impromptu concerts by staff and customers :)
3. ...wrote a book, what genre would it be?
It would be non-fiction, I'm afraid. It would be either:
"If you build it, they will come: a single gals guide to decorating and love"
or
"How to survive (and have a blast) on no money...I've done it!"
4. ...ran a school, what would you teach?
How about a school to teach men not to be assholes? There would be etiquette lessons...dance classes..."the art of wooing"..."how to dial a phone"..."why 'mackin'" in the back of a bar is NOT okay"....
5. ...recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?
Hmmm...I'm thinking an album that finally creates the perfect combination of opera and jazz. It could contain such hits as "The Strauss Shuffle", "Bee Bop Bach", "Swingin' with Smetana", "Mozart the Moocher", (I have a million)...hee.."Bei mir bist du Schoenberg"

Could I be a guest lecturer in that class? Because small talk makes me twitchy and I kind of HAVE to ignore my coworkers :P

I know we discussed this at the craft show - you know I would be all about this restaurant. Yay for stuff on bread!
