I went out at lunchtime, which was clearly a Bad Idea, because now I am freezing. Residual cold! As all Canadians between Alberta and Quebec well know, we have been hit with a brutal cold spell, and things are very, very cold. Although not as cold as they are in Winnipeg (poor

blue_lotus - what a terrible time for a work trip!). This morning I realized what had been missing from winter so far - the experience of coughing every time I took a breath outside! Ah winter.

I should really just rename my journal The Weather Network.

Yeah, I'm so not going outside until this is over. It's not fair to Izzy - I feel strongly that one should not have to brave -30 weather until one can talk well enough to complain about it.

I am such a wimp that I convinced Isabelle to order in this evening (from Sweet Lulu's, squee!) instead of dragging ourselves there.

Heh. I've already left the house for work, so I suppose it won't kill me to go to dance class after work. :D

I tried to get some better (warmer) gloves at The Bay, they were all Kenneth Cole and/or cost $75. WHATEVER.

I bought a pair of serious winter gloves before skating on the weekend. There was a sale at the sports store at the mall (can't remember what it's called) and I got a pair of gortex gloves for $35 (normally $70, they say). I figured it was worth it to not be miserable in frozen Ottawa. I'm doing pretty well at staying warm, with warm boots, down-filled coat, hat with ears and the gloves. I'm certainly not *attractive*, but I am warm :)

In this weather, warm is much more important than attractive.

Agreed. In this weather, "attractive and freezing" looks the same as "stupid".

I choked on my own frozen breath when I stepped outside into the -26, "feel like -36", Ottawa morning. I've been hibernating the rest of the day.

God, for real. YEESH.

It is now finally cold on the east coast, too.

I'm back in -15 Edmonton. Thank god.
