O Collective Wisdom, tell me things!

I am craving pancakes like a mad crave-y thing! Where in Toronto has really excellent pancakes?

* * *

So, what will you all be up to this weekend? Assuming this is your weekend. It used to drive me crazy when people assumed I had Saturday and Sunday off (especially when they assumed that as we were closing the CD store at 9 on Friday and I wasn't off until Tuesday), and now here I'm doing it. ANYWAY. It's a gorgeous fall weekend, and I hope everyone has exciting plans. Me, I think I'm hunting down pancakes.

Tomorrow I'm getting a massage, then going to a friend's place for dinner.

I just realized Sunday is Word on the Street, so I may check it out.

Not a bad gig if you can get it. ;-)

Pancakes.... hmmm.... for plentiful pancakes, there's always the Golden Griddle (assuming that there are locations that haven't yet gone out of business). For good pancakes, I'd check out Mimosa (http://www.mimosabistro.com) (Yonge St., north of Eglinton). I'm pretty sure I've had great pancakes there. If I'm completely mistaken (i.e., if they don't have pancakes), their French toast is amazing, and worth the trip in its own right.

Bruce had the pancakes, you had the French toast. You both loved them.

Mystery solved. :p

We're off to the Folsom Street Fair in SF this weekend! Much fun!

Mimosa has amazing French toast - stuffed with mascarpone cheese! So yummy...it's one of my favourite Sunday morning post-service brunch spots.

Also, Fresh by Juice for Life has a good pancake. A friend fed me a cold one leftover from her breakfast and it was delish. Maybe the flavour changes on a daily basis, I don't know, but the one I had was banana.

Definitely check it out - they can be a little on the snooty side sometimes, but it is North Toronto after all...

My weekend will consist of a dress rehearsal of Figaro (which, as I write this, went very well - the student audiences are always very appreciative), then a Sitzprobe of Don Carlos on Saturday eve, followed by some Nuit Blanche-ing in my neighbourhood, then church on Sunday morning as per usual, followed by another Don Carlos rehearsal, and topped off by Swing Rosie's final performance at the Rex Hotel.

mmm...pancakes. we were so bummed that the new dutch pancake place in our neighborhood turned out to be a service disaster.

this weekend: we're probably going to see across the universe tonight, then i'm going to the folk music conference on saturday, and i'm volunteering for a show at the old town school saturday night, and we may be getting together with a bunch of lj-user tags for midnight hedwig at our favorite local independent movie theater, and then i'm singing in the choir for two services sunday morning, and then right after church there's a young adult group planning meeting where i plan to ogle cute uus promote the idea of a group karaoke outing and possibly the crafting-for-some-sort-of-cause project some of us have been kicking around. um. and then on monday i plan to collapse.

I'm going w/ friends out to a Shaker Village a couple of hours away as part of the Smithsoniam Museum thing (saving ourselves the $15 entry fee) tomorrow.

Then Sunday, I'll probably go to the new MIT musuem opening, and then meet up w/ the guy and watch the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Damn! I totally want pancakes now. My weekend will be spent between two birthday parties and moving my cousin.
