Tea Round-up!

It's August, and I think we all know what that means...all there is to do is complain non-stop about the weather. No, wait, it means it's time for a tea check-up.

So, tea exchange participants! Hopefully you were all good and braved the heatwaves to make your way to the post office, but if you have not received your tea, please tell me and I will send out nasty letters polite e-mails. You can also feel free to post if you juuuust sent your tea or are juuuuust about to, and in that way avoid my nagging. :)

Also, if you want to drop out, let me know and I will take you off the list, or if you want to join up, read the entry and fill out the poll here!

In conclusion, has anyone found anything that makes truly spectacular iced tea? After working my way through my collection I've fallen back on my old favourite of Vancouver Island blackberry (although I made a really nice one with something ginger), but I'm open to more suggestions.

has anyone found anything that makes truly spectacular iced tea

Yes, but it's very, very bad for you. It involves strong black tea, canned peaches, a little peach syrup, and lots of rum. Somehow I don't think that's what you were asking for.

The package I am sending is literally in my car getting ready to be sent.

I received my package this week!

Iced tea - I have been playing around with mixing my fruit teas in creative combos for drinking - peach + blackberry, green + mango, etc. :) :) :)

Tea on its way today or tomorrow; no later than that.

I've been using berry tea and tangerine orange zinger to make some iced teas and they're OK, but not great.

I refuse to drink fruit teas hot, but cold I adore them. :)

I tried the Numi Desert Lime tea the other day and I imagine it would be really interesting iced.... it was tart and strong. It's made from dried limes, not just lime scented.

I almost never drink iced tea, but I've found that when I do peppermint is nice. Very cooling.
Of course there's also my Grandmother's method. Add ice cubes and Southern Comfort and/or peach schnapps.

Relatedly, I have not yet received my tea but am under a very strong impression that I will very soon! ;)

Is that Tropic of Strawberry? I haven't seen that in the store in AGES!

The Weather: is STUPID.

Tea Exchange: Can I get back in on that next round?

Iced Tea: The Silk Roads Japanese Cherry that [livejournal.com profile] starfishchick introduced me to is quite nice cold.

I sent my tea out last week sometime, and I received a mailbox card yesterday which I am going to assume is my tea (but I guess we'll see)

[identity profile] bruiseblue.livejournal.com 2006-08-01 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I have not recieved my last round of tea - and I am sad. Karmically, I know I deserve it, but I was so good this round, and got mine out in a reasonable time frame for once.

*vows to continue the doing better streak*

Murchies black teas make pretty good iced - the key is to make it far too strong, cool it, and then add simple syrup to taste for the sweetness. Also, any fruit tea mixed half and half with that fruit's juice, is amazing - black tea with peach mixed with peach juice is my favourite (recipe provided by Silk Road). I haven't found a good green iced tea yet, but I have a powdered mix for green tea with mango that is pretty good, flavour combination wise.

Do you have the iced tea recipe pamphlet from Silk Road? I can copy mine for you... or get you one. It was only $1. :)

I haven't received my tea yet, but it's probably still on its way - slowly going across the ocean. :)

Last time I got a mailbox card I was absolutely sure what it was, and I was totally wrong! It was kind of a nice surprise. :)

But remember, Southern Comfort can only be used for medicinal purposes. *cough cough*

I haven't received my tea yet... :(

For iced tea these days, I'm quite liking one of the teas I got last time, President's Choice Moroccan-Style Mint Green Tea (that's a lot of words!)

Since my Grandmother's "medical" reason was a tickle in the throat, heat stroke totally counts.

[identity profile] emiline.livejournal.com 2006-08-02 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
I am sending mine tomorrow!

And should I email you my change of address?

Lime tea? Sounds lovely!!

I have some of that that I am not a huge fan of; you can have it if you want it.

[identity profile] emiline.livejournal.com 2006-08-02 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
It is for this round, so I'll send that email asap.

[identity profile] fruitkakechevy.livejournal.com 2006-08-02 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
I've lost my laptop to the east coast (where hopefully they'll fix it) along with my tea-exchange address. Could you send it to me again, at esmecher.at.sfu.dot.ca? Thanks!

My favourite iced tea is 3 bags of red zinger and 1 bag of generic black, mixed half and half with apple juice. I usually add a little lime juice, too!

[identity profile] fruitkakechevy.livejournal.com 2006-08-02 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
AND I received TWO wonderful packages of tea this round! What lovely surprises!

[identity profile] iseult-variante.livejournal.com 2006-08-02 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I just went and filled out the poll - yay, tea! I have one question, as I am a tea newbie: how many bags = a box?

[identity profile] iseult-variante.livejournal.com 2006-08-02 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, cool. :) Thanks!

[identity profile] bruiseblue.livejournal.com 2006-08-02 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Will do!

[identity profile] moizissimo.livejournal.com 2006-08-02 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
If it's from Silk Road, it is indeed your tea. I placed the order (couldn't make it into Victoria), then a couple days later I found an herbal tea shop here in Vancouver. D'oh.

[identity profile] jopickles.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
it was, and thank you! holy spoilage!! (i'm very eager to test drive some of these teas!)

[identity profile] moizissimo.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know. :)

They're just SO good, and I had some extra cash, so you got an extra treat.

[identity profile] slavewench.livejournal.com 2006-08-07 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
GACK! Totally forgot - it's in my kitchen waiting to be mailed. I'll send it out tomorrow - my apologies. As for receiving - I can't remember if I have or not!

[identity profile] morgany.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
I realized when I signed up on the poll thingy that I forgot to include my email address. It's morgany at mailways dot ca.
