Last night I was *this* close to buying $70 worth of Gordon Korman books. They were in the shopping basket and everything.

Luckily I came to my senses and remembered that I have a library card.

But, geez, why am I so spendy lately? I've mostly managed to stop myself actually making the purchases, but it's not easy, and even the knowledge that I just put $700 on my credit card for my ticket out west isn't much of a deterrent.

Sigh.

Current mood: materialistic

I think the purchase of books and music goes into a different spendy category. Even when I'm careful about not spending money on other things somehow spending money on those things (or at least being seriously tempted) is in a completely different realm. Because.. books. music. They're essential.

I think it's the weather. Warmth and sunshine stimulate the production of spending hormones.

I seem to blow a lot of money on music lately, Cancon no less (you know, the kind we never hear on the radio).

You sound like me. I realized I was 100 points from earning a BN gift card with my BN credit card, which will no longer be BN as of May. So of course I have to buy books with it, to earn the points, right?

I'm so going to a used book store tomorrow, to look for Chicklit club books, then buying what they don't have from BN.com. After than I'm restricting myself to a very tight budget so that I can go to Firth and Mirth (which I'd like to believe would cease to exist without me, but have too firm a grip on reality to believe).

No, I don't think so. Maybe the sentence makes more sense with a 'that' on the end. :)

My brain appears to be out of order today. That temptress Helene Hanff kept me up way past bedtime last night. :P
