all the news that's...boring

I forgot to put my watch on this morning. I feel naked.

For Christmas, I got a wee tiny mp3 player that straps onto my arm, for use at the gym (I also got a doumbek, did I mention that? When it's warmer, and also less full of snow on the ground, I plan to take it to the park down the street and pretend I'm in Victoria. Very exciting.) - that is, assuming I ever get back to the gym. I loaded it up last night and brought it with me, though, in hopes that that would be the encouragement I needed.

What's your favourite workout/energizing/distract-me-from-the-pain-that-is-the-elliptical music?

Mine is Slippery When Wet-era Bon Jovi.

Shut up.

In other news, I'm extremely bored of everything I cook. I need to branch out, try new things. Hmm, maybe this weekend I'll try another of the fabulous soup recipes you guys gave me. Because honestly, I really need a break from stir-frys.

U2. Anything U2, but the greatest hits album (the one with the army kid on the cover) is my fave.

Also, when my Auntie Anne was asking my mom what sorts of things I like to cook, my mom answered with "She mostly mixes things up and puts them on rice." Clearly I have made one too many curries for my mother. ;)

I've recently discovered that working out to boybands and Britney Spears and Pink actually motivates me to, you know, push myself. Perhaps in an attempt to escape the terrible music, I don't know.

i will also admit to really, really genuinely enjoying shaking my ass to *nsync under any circumstances. *facepalm*

Add Avril Lavigne and you've got my workout mix. There's just something about angsty and lovelorn teens that makes the workout work.

I'm waiting for the snow to melt so I can check out the walking trail that is in that park down the street.

I like old Beastie Boys albums.

Yeah, the whole "wandering around by myself on trails I don't know" thing is definitely on the down side of doing that. I'm sure there's got to be a map of the trails somewhere, so I'll look for that, and let you know what I find out.

Bon Jovi is fantastic getting-stuff-done music. Also Queen, Heart, and the Priscilla soundtrack, or an uptempo-songs-only Rush mix. :D

I agree on the Priscilla soundtrack. It's such a good guilty pleasures/upbeat soundtrack.

Bwah....Queen....

[identity profile] mystery-diva.livejournal.com 2005-02-02 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
....I was totally going to post about Queen anyway :) Throw on "Don't stop me now" and just *see* if you don't immediately become happier :)

We keep a list of all the things we've (ok, I've) cook on top of the refrigerator, so we can refer to it when we get stuck. I could give you some suggestions, but only if you eat meat. I live with a carnivore husband, so spaghetti is about the only vegetarian dish we eat.

Cartoon Heroes. Is that eye-rollingly lame, or endearingly quirky?

[identity profile] protoainsley.livejournal.com 2005-02-03 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea how you and the commenters work out to what you do.

I really can only exercise to industrial-type stuff--the Mortal Kombat soundtrack, Rammstein, that sort of stuff.

Of course, I also tend to push myself a lot harder than I'm supposed to do (like, I can never keep my hands on the heart rate sensor, because I'm always way over what it wants for me). So take from that what you will.

[identity profile] protoainsley.livejournal.com 2005-02-03 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
For me it's all about pushing myself. The harder I work, the faster it goes.

But we already knew I was a freak. :P
