A day late and a dollar short

How much do I love this show, even though I probably shouldn't? More than ever, now that we're not getting it after the whole thing has been revealed in the States. Yaya is my favourite, although I think her skin will definitely be a problem for her. And, hello, "Drink more water"? Bitch, please. Thus speaks a man who never experience the trauma of bad skin. I was sad that Julie got sent home, because she was utterly gorgeous, but she didn't really want it, so I totally understand. And yay, next week we get to see them look silly on the runway (also apparently known as the 'runwalk' in my brain. Dork). Woo!

Once again, we're a week behind here, which means I have to pay special attention to not accidentally reading commentary and recaps. But I'm excited about this season so far (with all of 2 episodes that I've seen)! I love Luke, my hot coffeeshop boyfriend, and I love Luke and Lorelai, and I hope we get more Lane. The Dean and Rory thing is interesting, too, although I was shouting at the TV for her to tell him that she only said that in the letter because she was trying not to tear him in two directions and she really does love him, really! I've never been a huge Dean fan, and I don't think he's particularly right for Rory, but they are somewhat cute together. And him getting married to Lindsay was the stupidest thing anyone on this show has done. Also, Luke! *heart*

I'm totally all over this show. I'm not sure it can sustain itself for more than one season, and I'm a little worried it might head into Kim being chased by a cougar territory, but for the moment, though, it's fabulous. And Sayid is HOT and sexy and smart. As is Daniel Dae Kim, although his character is being an asshole, so my appreciation is dimmed somewhat. As, in fact, are many of the other people - it's an island of hotness. I would just like to say, though, that:
  • Boone and Shannon act more like squabbling lovers than brother and sister. I would not have guessed they were related if they hadn't said so.
  • In the world of rampant, spoiler-free speculation, there is definitely something being developed between Sun and Michael. They've had two scenes now together, and considering that she's not allowed to be around *anyone*, that's a lot.
  • Last week's preview featured all sorts of stuff that didn't happen this week. What's up with that?
  • I have no idea what's going on in Locke's head, but I'm enjoying it.
  • Why haven't they started collecting all the luggage inside the shell of the plane (there's a word for that, I'm sure, but I have no idea what it is)? Or has it maybe not been as long as it seems. Also, the bodies are going to start to smell soon, people.

That's odd you're a week behind with GG. I love that show, though. Rory and Dean must end. It's completely wrong.

If she's behind, I think we have a duty to catch her up. Right? Right?

[identity profile] protoainsley.livejournal.com 2004-10-08 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
Good. We're agreed.

Rachel, you'll be watching next week's (US) episode at Firth and Mirth.

But when Shelly's around, there can be no Gilmore squee, because she's only in season two.

megan dear, can you get on aim express? I'm bored out of my mind.

[identity profile] protoainsley.livejournal.com 2004-10-08 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly, I don't have that at work, but (let me grab some food first) I do eat at my desk, where I have e-mail...

[identity profile] sarcasma.livejournal.com 2004-10-08 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
So word on Boone and Shannon. This week I called her his girlfriend. Do we KNOW they're related? I think they're only posing and brother and sister. Which: Ew.

I hope it can sustain itself, but I strongly suspect it will be Twin Peaksed: the point, obviously is not at all whether they get rescued, but those who miss the point (*cough* the network *cough*) will force them to deal with the rescue concept in season two and the show will founder and die.

[identity profile] sarcasma.livejournal.com 2004-10-08 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously. Or, also like British television, just have six episodes per season and you won't get to "season two, episode 38" for seven seasons, by which time, whatever.

[identity profile] offscreen.livejournal.com 2004-10-08 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
more American television should emulate the British model and have limited run series THAT KNOW THEY'RE GOING TO BE LIMITED RUN AND CAN BE WRITTEN ACCORDINGLY.

A-motherfucking-MEN.

Wordy McWord Word on Boone and Shannon. The look after the sunglasses thing was the LEAST BROTHER AND SISTER LOOK I HAVE EVER SEEN.

It makes me type in all caps, that's how squee it made me.

And did you see the apple-toss between Sayid and Sawyer? OMG.

Don't you slash my tv boyfriend.

Dude, they slash themselves - I just witnessed it.

:)

Note to self: get Sayid icon, like right now.

You know, the apple could have meant "Hey, you're not a bad guy" since they were ready to kill each other last week, and not "Hey, I want to lick you." Maybe.

MmmmmSayidicon.

Kate/Sayid, dude.

I wants it.

I don't think they're really brother and sister. But who knows? I loathe both of them and don't really care one way or the other.

[identity profile] maitheas.livejournal.com 2004-10-08 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
They've only been there 48 hours, and at the end of this episode, finally seemed to be coming to the realization that they have to live on this island, not just wait there on the beach for aid.

But still...bodies...tropical heat and humidity. ew! also, health hazard!

[identity profile] anglaisepaon.livejournal.com 2004-10-08 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but these are the same people using up all the drugs on a guy who just needs to die already!

You love it too! Thank goodness I'm not the only one! And yes, Yaya is my favourite too. She's got such confidence (as well she should -- she's gorgeous!) I was also disspointed that Julie got cut, but as you said if she didn't really want it, why should she have been allowed to stay.
Something about Cassie's bullimia seemed odd to me. She almost seemed to be showing off at times, "Look at me, I'm not eating", "Look at me, I'm exercising", etc. Of course, I've never had an eating disorder, so I don't know but I just got the feeling she was using her problem as a way to get concern and attention from the other girls.

Hope you, [livejournal.com profile] starfishchick are having a great road trip!

Have you noticed that they seem to be putting a lot more emphasis on eating this season? They've had shots of them eating in every episode, and lots of moments of the girls saying they're hungry, or getting excited about certain restaurants.

I did notice that. I wonder if the producer's of the show are trying to ward off criticism. Or maybe they're using the eating as a way to emphasize the whole Cassie/Eating-disorder sub-plot.
