I think I managed to nail down my Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab sampler picks. I want more - the short list was about 30 things - but I'm going to try these first. Of course, sarcasma had to go and link me to The Underground Scent Plant, and now I want things from there, too. It's all about smelling pretty, yo.


Gluttony - Thick, sugared and bloated with sweetness. Dark chocolate, vanilla, buttercream, and hops with pralines, hazelnut, toffee and caramel.

Bordello - Bawdy plum with amaretto, burgundy wine and black currant.

O - Amber and honey with a touch of vanilla.

Baobhan Sith - Grapefruit, white tea, apple blossom and ginger.

The Apothecary - Tea leaf with three mosses, green grass, a medley of herbal notes, and a drop of ginger and fig.

Three Witches - Warm cinnamon, husky clove and white pepper.

How can you tell I don't often try new oils? There's no consistency at all. Well, other than the fact that I feel like I could eat or drink all of them. Seems awfully appropriate that one of them is named Gluttony, no?

Nono, I think it’s good that you don’t have consistency. What if you got six things all in the same scent family and either a) hated them all or b) loved them all but died of boredom anyway?

The BPAL forums are huge on trading, especially for samples. So if there are any you hate you can totally trade them. I hated Haunted, and I'm going to put it up for trade.

Hmm, I didn't get that from the list you posted before - they seemed nicely varied. Actually, it was reading that again that made me go back and look at the options again, because I started to feel that all mine were too heavy!

I feel somewhat responsible for that. *wicked grin* It is a great scent though -- I think people will get a lot of enjoyment out of it. It's nice to feel sexy.

Mmmmm. Sounds yummy. I think I might add Baobhan Sith to my next order -- I really like the fruity scents. And I will be anxiously awaiting your review of The Apothecary. I love figs, would happily smell like one, and the combination of ingredients in that oil is intriguing.

They usually throw in a bunch of extra samples and they even put thought into it (base it on what you've ordered and/or ordered in the past, also if you comment when ordering on what sort of scents you like, they take that into consideration).

I ordered the usual amount of samples and got a bunch extra last time. Still working my way through trying them all.

Is that a perfume...or a Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream flavour??? You might not want to wear that near me...but if you do, I apologize in advance for licking you :)

It's like the Creme Brulee hand cream that starfishchick and I each bought at the craft fair - when I wear it I just can't stop smelling my hands. I probably look like a freak, but damn! I smell good.
