Not to be annoyingly overpost-y, but have you seen the new beta Google maps for walking? I've been wishing for something like this for ages! Their average speed is a little slower than me (as I would expect), but it's useful for a vague idea of timing. Hurrah!

I found it by chance while investigating Ottawa maps earlier this week. I was really excited. They had a transit option there too.

I saw that just today! And it was great! Yeah, their timing is for slooooooow walkers I think.

I love that google for Chicago also includes a transit option for directions. NYC didn't have that, nor did Milwaukee or Seattle. I don't know how many others have transit directions, but it rules!

I saw this via someone else on lj- I gather that the accuracy of the routes depends a bit on where you are and how much research them done on what's really the shortest.

However, someone on that entry posted this set of directions, on how to get from Boston to Australia. Step 26 is pretty good...

I really want a google BIKE map. That would be awesome. The one the city of Toronto puts out is really hard to read, sigh.
