February!

I don't know why I'm excited, though. It's not like February is the most exciting of months. In fact, around here February is pretty much the least favourite of months, what with the cold and the snow and the lack of holidays. Still, for some reason I'm rather fond of February this year, at least for the moment.

I did really well on my January resolution. Gold star for me! I mean, I actually went to bed earlier, and got more sleep, for the majority of days. I'm still tired all the time, but I think that's more a function of when I have to get up and the fact that my body refuses to accept that 6am is morning. I'll take what I can get, though.

My February resolution is to write more of my silly NaNovel. Because I was doing so not particularly well, and then I just gave up! That's not on. I mean, the giraffes had just shown up. So, yeah.

I tried my humidifier last night (See? I can buy things in less than a year. Sometimes). I don't know if it made any difference, but that was just the first night. It was pretty loud at first, but I think I got used to it -- it's hard to tell, because I wake up so often these days. It could have been the noise, or it could have just been me. I have high hopes, though.

Finally: Hypothetically, if I were to take a trip to, say, London* and environs, what would be the nicest time of year to visit?

And I'm done.

*England, that is, not Ontario.

February as whole may not be exciting. But groundhog day? Rocks.

I have nothing to say, except aren't you glad you got out of Halifax when you did?

I think the excitement is always based on It's Not January!

London is pretty and warmish in May. It rains in June usually. Usually quite a lot. It can be surprisingly less rainy and even very hot sometimes in July and August. In September it's cooler but usually warmish and pretty. Come to London and we can meet and talk about books and drink tea and eat chocolate!

Groundhog steel cage match.

But it is obviously all about me and I won't be there in September :-( I will be in Africa with the lions and tigers and giraffes and zebraaaaaaaaaaaas.

Mud wrestling is so much cheaper.

Granted. Final proposal, strap a pair of groundhogs into custom-made remote control cars. Have them race an obtascle course, or mini golf course. Betting is allowed. It could be like the Kentucky Derby of February. Except, with more groundhogs.

I hope you visit the Persephone book shop while you're in London. :-D

For me, of course. ;-)

The funny thing is that I've been thinking of London as well. I am attempting to get out of my traveling slump.

London is basically never nice, also it is really far from here. Here is nice.

I have been to the UK in: Early May, Late October, Mid-July, and some other time that I can't quite remember now. I really enjoyed Early May - it was warmm without being too warm, wet without being too wet, and the wisteria and other Spring flowers were in bloom. :)

mid-July was still not very hot, at least in Oxford. I had great intentions to sun myself nude in Archie's back garden, but it was too cool most days. :)

I was in London various times from September to February 2002/2003, and I can say that it rained almost every time I was there. Some clear nights once in a while.. But there was a stretch of weather in January that was really nice - I walked around parks that were sunny and full of people playing rugby and soccer, and camped out on deck chairs reading, and thought of all the miserable snow back home.. So what does that tell you? Uh, go now? (Really, aren;'t you just going to be heading to Leicester Square for cheap tickets anyway? ;)

I *can* tell you that Paris was *bloody brilliant* in September, and I recommend that to anyone. After October hit, it was just as on-and-off miserable as London, but *damn* September was good!

Right. Right. Also yay!

That is very very true.
