Hello darkness, my old friend
Happy late birthday
meganberrieh! I hope it was a wonderful day. :)
So, due to the crazy conversation
sarcasma and I had a while back, I decided to attempt going to the gym before work. Therefore, when my alarm went off (earlier than normal, boo) this morning, I threw myself out of bed, made some bad fashion choices, grabbed my stuff, ran out the door, and got to the subway station...where I sat for 10 minutes, because the first train doesn't come until 6 am. Evil! (Also, as
sarcasma said, No one should be up before the subway!)
Anyway, I went, I lifted, I yawned, I showered, and now I am wobbly and sleepy, but at least I get to go home right after work without feeling guilty.
It did bring up a few issues, though, namely food (I will now have to bring breakfast and lunch, and everything is going to be unrefrigerated for a couple of hours). I feel like I now need my own personal fridge at work. This is why I want to live across the street from work.
Speaking of food, this weekend only confirmed what I have long believed: every day is made better by brunch. Even the snowstorms and thunder (!!) could not keep me from having not one, but two brunches this weekend. Yum.
Sin City: I really didn't like this movie. Which totally surprised me, because I'm very good at knowing what I'll like, and usually I like (to greater or lesser extent) everything that I choose to see. And I mean, I thought it was visually stunning and I loved how you could clearly see how the comic book frames had been translated on to film. But it was so fucking gratuitously, needlessly, over-the-top violent and gory. I am not someone who is easily freaked out or disgusted, but I felt like I was going to throw up by the end of the first story. And then I got really depressed, because I started to wonder why this is considered entertainment, and why we need to see this, and what this says about society. Hey, I had my eyes closed to control the nausea, I had to think of something. Plus I thought some of the acting was terrible, and the dialogue didn't translate well to film. Whatever.
(PS. Was Gilmore Girls new this week? I thought it was, but what I taped turned out to be a repeat.)
