Hoo boy, I am bored with the Olympics. Not that I've really watched any -- I'm just tired of the Olympics being the only topic of conversation anywhere in the news. Surely there are other things of interest happening in the world right now. Please? And I'm tired of how noisy it is at work these days, with everyone hollering at the enormous TV downstairs. Also, people in proximity to me on a daily basis, you can stop updating me on every single move of the Men's Hockey team. I so don't care. In fact, I would really like everyone to stop treating Men's Hockey as though the outcome is going to determine the fate! of the entire! universe!
Please.
Wow, I feel better now.
The coverage of the Olympics on The Hour is still *almost* entertaining me, although, seriously, if I wanted play by play, I'd just watch a sports show. I enjoyed the montage of ice dancers falling on their asses, though, which probably makes me a bad person. And there was an interesting interview last night with a guy who says that Americans are not really invested in the Olympics anymore, not since the end of the cold war. He feels that now it's just a case of athletes winning medals for themselves, whereas before it was a win for democracy, and a blow against the evil empires of communism, so Americans don't care as much. Canadians are still invested, though, because all we've ever cared about is beating the Americans.
Please.
