So, I'm doing this thing, right? And this week involves reading deprivation.

NOOOOOO!

I have the original edition of the book, which doesn't mention the internet, but I'm extrapolating, and the result is that I won't really be around this week*, unless I cave for lack of civilized human contact during the day. Also, if you miss me terribly, please feel free to email me, because I'm counting email as communication, not reading, and nothing was said about not talking to people. :)

Anyway, if you hear any reports about murderous rampages on the subways of Toronto, that's probably me, since I won't be able to block out the inanities of my fellow commuters with a book.

Play nice while I'm gone!

*I could post, I suppose, since that doesn't require me to read, but that seems unfair somehow, that I'd impose myself on you without seeing what you're up to. Or possibly I know deep down that I wouldn't be able to prevent myself from reading just a little bit.

So it tells you to go a week without reading!!?!? Man, that just shows you how far I've gotten in that book...I never knew. Or maybe, by not reading that far in the book I was actually doing that exercise without even knowing it???

Seriously, I've always liked that book but am ashamed to admit I've never gotten past the chapter that talks about the artist's pages. I do them for about a week and then forget to get up with the alarm one day then poof! Back to the drawing board.

Ditto

I'd gotten to the week where you're supposed to dredge up a whole lot of really detailed childhood stuff like favourite foods, realized I remember nothing but vague impressions of house layouts, and given up. Reading deprivation certainly never came up, and if it had, that would have just been IT.

I think it's been shown often enough during my performing career that I'm really not the Artist's Way type. I figure I'll get all the self-expression and freeing-of-the-mind that anyone can take from clown. :)
